Re: Inserted image is not being displayed in the topic

What format are you using for the image? Make sure it's a web format, like JPG, PNG, or GIF.

Re: Problem opening WebHelp from code

It works if you enter the URL directly in the browser.

If you try to make a desktop shortcut or enter that URL directly in the Run line in the start menu it does not work. Both of those Windows methods use Process.Start(URL) to open the browser. Madcap, apparently, does not support that method. It ...

Re: inheriting list indents

The "ol ul etc." method works for me, although admittedly I'm not doing it with tables, only with p tags. Just to check your sanity try the same thing with a p tag. If it works there but not for tables, it could be a bug.

Re: Pasting Image Data from the Clipboard

I would send Madcap a feature request. You can do so here:

http://www.madcapsoftware.com/bugs/submit.aspx

They tell us that the more people ask for something the more likely it is to get implemented, so if you want it, ask them for it, even if you're sure someone else has asked already.

Re: Alignment within Table using images and text...

When you did it in InDesign, did it come out like that automatically or did you have to fiddle with it to get the "Exit" text to line up with the middle of the graphic and the "Select this...." to line up with "Exit"?

In Flare (or any markup-language based system for that matter) you may have to ...

Re: One glossary term, multiple definitions

Ahh, I see - so your definitions consist solely of the long name? I was assuming you were providing more detail than that. (For example, "Earned Run Average (ERA) - the average number of runs a pitcher gives up in 9 innings.")

Re: inheriting list indents

Are you using table styles? If so, the problem is that Flare inserts a bunch of inline style code directly into the topic. This over-rides what is in your stylesheet. You would need to clean out that style code to get your stylesheet settings to take effect.

Re: One glossary term, multiple definitions

For now, at least, I guess the only "solution" is to include the term that's used most in the glossary and spelling out the others every time they're used. I've submitted an enhancement request to Madcap to allow for multiple term entries that can be selected from when applying the Glossary Term ...

Re: inheriting list indents

Remember that CSS goes bottom up rather than top down - in other words, any style code in a class over-rides what is in the parent style, not vice versa.

In addition to Dave's suggestions, another option would be to remove margin settings from the classes altogether - then they will inherit from ...

How about margin values? Also, are the font size / font family settings the same as the base style? If there are any differences that may be the culprit.

I haven't seen anything official regarding support for W7 from Madcap either... otoh, there is at least one bug fix listed in the release notes for 5.0.1 that's related to a W7 specific problem. Make of that what you will.

Is the page-break-after set on the li tag or on the ul tag?
The page-break-after is set on the li tag. I don't want to put it in the ul tag because then it would affect all my other bulleted lists.

You mentioned that you're using a custom LI style. I think the solution would be to instead use a ...

That's interesting, it doesn't like the microsoft installation program. Well, it's not alone in that regard :D but I think even Microsoft's most vehement critics aren't about to call the msi installer a virus (crappy code, maybe, but a virus? doubt it....)

Another possibility with IE8 is to run the site in compatibility mode. This is allows IE8 to run sites the same way as older versions of IE did. (which when you think about it is a really ugly kludge, because it's going back to the bad ol' proprietary IE renderer instead of the closer-to-open ...

Re: PDF gets different fonts on different computers.

The bottom example is clearly much lower resolution - it looks pixelated. I don't think you're looking at a font usage issue, you're looking at a display issue.
