Re: Layout mode does not reflect the correct page in XML Editor

Hi Paul,
Thanks, I didn't think of that.
At the same time the option Layout mode  Layout (Print) is useless, unless you set the correct Page Layout in the TOC for the topic.
Should I make a feature request to follow the TOC settings and if a TOC entry has no Page layout setting to inherit ...

Re: Flare v4.2 Review

I Checked with one of my projects, that roughly needed 1 min 30 secs to create the PDF output with a size of 3.8Mb.
With Flare 4.2 it needed 1 min 10 secs and the created size 2.7Mb.
So this is a rather big progress. It pleases me.

On the other hand there are still bookmarks created below the Index ...

Re: Controling Cursor Movement in Region Capture

In my opinion it would be better not to zoom the handles of a selection. Programs like Snagit don't zoom the handles either and that's much more convenient.

Especially when you have to deal with small details you can't see anything because the handles are in the way.

Re: Layout mode does not reflect the correct page in XML Editor

Hi lisa,
The output itself is fine.
I already thought the same as you before.
The project default page is set to the Content.flpgl as the Title topic etc. are forced to use the proper ones.
The target output is set to default and that is of course Content.flpgl because of the project default page ...

Re: Layout mode does not reflect the correct page in XML Editor

Hi Lisa,
Thank you for the quick respond.
I have to tease you a little bit more. I always like to show an image. Often it explains more.
So, I made an image of the Tree view:
Tree view.png
Only 'Introduction' looks good.
Except for 'General Test Preparations' and 'General Notes', all topics start ...

Layout mode does not reflect the correct page in XML Editor

Momentary I am writing test protocols in layout mode.
However, I only get the correct page layout in the view when I explicitly set the page in the Chapter break of the TOC.
I thought that when you set the Chapter break in the TOC at a certain point, all items in the TOC after this point follow the ...

Re: permanent url's for deep linking into flare webhelp

Misunderstanding, I do use CSH for the customers, not with all projects, but some of them.

Do you mean something like:
http://<servername>/<directory>/ilnpld_CSH.htm#Rules.htm

If that is the case: it does not work.

Re: permanent url's for deep linking into flare webhelp

Thanks Ramon,
You are right, it works and I could have known that.
But, it is meant to be used for CSH and I use that too. Therefore you have to assign the topics to the aliases manually.
However, in this case I am looking for something automatic.

The intention for our programmer's department is to ...

permanent url's for deep linking into flare webhelp

The following is a request from our programmer's department:

Currently when one wants to deep link into a certain webhelp documentation tree, one has to use URL's like this:
.../webhelp/ilnpld.htm#StartTopic=/Content/Object%20Features/Object%20Types/Text%20related%20objects/Decision%20object ...

Ok, and in the meantime I discovered the same phenomenon with dropdown and table (<td> styles.
So, looking to that I am sure it is to consider as a bug now.

Re: Image overwrites footer in PDF output

I have been asked to send an example. I did using the sample book and putting an image in it.
The phenomenon occurs when preceding the image with a <div> or a <blockquote>.
And then you can only avoid this behaviour by setting the page-break-inside:avoid .
So, when using a <div> or a <blockquote ...

Re: Image overwrites footer in PDF output

Thanks etk,
The post there brought me the solution.
In fact I just set a page-break-inside:avoid in my blockquote
Nevertheless I ask myself if it should be reported as a bug.

Image overwrites footer in PDF output

Does anyone have a clue why an image like:
ImageInBlockquote.png
exceeds the footer in a PDF output?
It is put in a blockquote. I tried to set orphans, but that didn't help.

Re: image caption question

Hi,
I put the next feature request to MadCap:

It would be nice to set a caption for pictures.
Maybe an extra tab at the Media properties.
The caption should align left, middle or rigth, according to the width of the picture even if the outputs need different sizes.

So, if the picture has a width ...

Re: Variable set not updated (closed)

Thanks Lisa,
That was a good tip. I did a 'Restore Defaults' which seems to reconnect to the VariableSet of the project.
After your tip I read the manual more closely and there it says:

Editor are available to your ...

Variable set not update

When I update my variable set (in Project -> Variables), the same variable set in the PDF Output is not updated automatically, but in the WebHelp output it did update.
So, I have to check the variables in the PDF Output carefully!
This variable set is transferred from a Global linking source and ...

Re: 4.1.40 Update Released

Hi Enrico,

But the advantage of generating direct PDF is: Word is not needed any more.
I found also that Word takes care automatically of a few things, like resizing images too wide to print on a page, that Flare does not to when directly generating PDF output.

It is possible:
In your stylesheet ...

Internal Error: Parameter is not valid

The strange thing is that when running the Sample Book from Madcap, the PDF output will be generated without any problem.
I reported this bug together with my ...

Re: Saving PDF takes 10 minutes, CPU pegged

I noticed the same things a while ago and reported everything to Technical Support.
I hoped everything would have been improved with the latest release (4.1.19), but nothing changed so far.

To test some things you can create a new project based on the Sample book from Madcap.

Since the time I ...
