Re: System moves at a crawl

Do the developers actually need to edit the topics in the project, or do they just need the output?

If the developers don't need the project source files, then keep that on your local PC and publish the target to the network location where they want it. To do this, set up the network folder as a ...

Re: Rebranding question

Yep, it's really up to the author (not Flare) to tidy up unused topics.

If you have a load of junk topics in your project, then it's up to you to decide what to do with them. If you definitely don't need them, then delete them. If you don't know if they're used or you think you might need them ...

Re: Using MadCap.css and MadCap*.js files

I think I'm missing something here. How can I use the styles and js functions that ship with Flare in MadCap.css and the MadCap .js files if I'm importing a project from Frame?

I think the short answer is that you don't map styles to MadCap.css. You would map them to the stylesheet that you use ...

Nope, I simply just want to have each topic on a separate page in the Word output.

Re: How do you have a page break for each topic?

If you know that all of your topics are H1 or H2, then in the Print Support in the stylesheet put a page break before, that way each H1 or H2 would start on a new page

Unfortunately they aren't, about 50% of the topics have some content above the H1 heading, so I can't set a page break before the ...

Re: How do I create CSH in a Merged Project?

When you merge projects, Flare doesn't merge the alias files from the sub-projects, so CSH calls to these sub-projects don't work.

MadCap published a work-around for WebHelp projects (see below), which basically involves merging the alias files by hand. I've not tried it with HTML Help targets, so ...

Re: How do you have a page break for each topic?

Yep, I can do that - I think that's the only way it's going to work.

One other thing, is it normal for the Word output not to include any content that's on the master page (e.g. paragraph text)? It'll include content that's inside a header/footer proxy, but anything else on your master page isn't ...

Re: How do you have a page break for each topic?

Unfortunately the div block needs to be in the topic (as it contains 'see also' links).
Using a condition tag to exclude it from the Word output would work ok, but then I'd have to apply that to all the 4000+ topics.

I also tried setting the media@print style for the div tag to display:none, but ...

Re: How do you have a page break for each topic?

But it seems a bit odd to start a new page for every topic, regardless if it starts a new chapter or not...wouldn't it be more useful to specify to start a new page on every H1 and H2 for example?

The problem is that my topics don't always start with a h1 heading, some have a div tag above the h1 ...

How do you have a page break for each topic?

I'm generating a Word output and I need to have a page break for each new topic.

By default, Flare seems to put in page breaks for h1 headings (using the page-break-before property).

However, the topics in my project don't always start with a h1 heading, some have content placed above the heading ...

It looks like this:

If you can't see it, it may be worth resetting your window layout by using Window > Layouts > Reset Window Layout.

I thought you may have it set to auto-hide, but it should still appear when you select it from the view menu or press F12.

Re: Applying a Class inside Javascript

Yep, it's your quotes in the section +" class= " Script " >Send us feedback!</a>"

In the javascript, you're using quotes within quotes, so you need to tell it that the quotes around "Script" are part of the text.
To do this use a \ character before the quote, e.g.

document.write ("<a href ...

As, SteveS mentioned above, you set up the order of the topics in your TOC.

or are we restricted to creating a topic for each new piece of information to be displayed to the user?

Just a tip... if you want all the items in the list to use the same bullet, then it'd be a lot easier to set up your bullet image in a class ul.Check .

Then you just need to right-click the ul tag and select Style Class > Check . This is a lot easier than applying a class to each li tag ...
