Does this happen every time you move a file?
And does this happen if you have your project in a folder that isn't synchronised?
I don't know if it happens every time I move a file. After having lost two files, I am afraid to move anything in Content Manager!
All of my folders are synchronised ...

Re: SQL memory requirements
I'm just wondering what is a realistic specification for system that isn't going to get bogged down.
SQL server seems to eat up anything from 400MB-1GB, and Analyzer from 100-200MB.

SQL memory requirements
Looking at the system requirements for Analyzer, it says you can use a 1GHz Pentium 3 with 512MB memory.
I find that Analyzer runs very slowly. I'm using a dual core 2GHz PC with 2GB memory, working with projects of around 100-150 topics, and the system is still pretty sluggish.

Re: Toolbar Background image
If you've customised that aspect of the skin, you'll have two Toolbarbackground.jpg files in your output.
The Skin/Images folder has all the files used for the default skin.

So the presence of the toolbackground.jpg file is just a backup in case it has a problem filling in the color.
No, not really. The ToolbarBackground.jpg image is generated by Flare, based on what you specify in the skin settings for the gradient.

Update:
In output/Skin/Images, I replaced the ToolbarBackground.jpg with my own background image (also called ToolbarBackground.jpg), so and checked if toolbar.htm would used image instead. It still shows the default ToolbarBackground.jpg.
Perhaps it's my image. :(

Re: RED Index keywords
Have you tried the keywordlink section in the stylesheet? If you open the stylesheet editor in simple mode you should see any class etc that has a red colour.
That isn't what you need to do, the keywordLink style is for the keyword link help control.

Yep, I don't understand why the files need to be in a fixed folder on each user's PC, but the only way I can see of doing this is to set it up as a destination.

Re: Relative path from project directory
I've read through this a few times, and I'm not sure I fully understand the initial question (or replies).
The way I read the problem is that when you build a target, the folder path containing the output files will be different on each user's PC, as the user's name forms part of the output path ...

Re: Chaps i think there's a need for a Really Good Flare book
For me, the main areas I had trouble with weren't to do with Flare as such, but more that I needed to understand (X)HTML and CSS in order to use it and get the best out of it.
I'd used a number of authoring tools before, such as RoboHelp HTML, but they don't expose you to HTML and CSS quite so ...

If I were you, I'd go back and ask your developers to sit down with you and look at the help, then tell you where and how their script should fit in with it.

Re: Chaps i think there's a need for a Really Good Flare book
Yep, learning how Flare works is one thing, but knowing how to use it well is another.
On a side note about getting started with Flare, how about being able to download full project templates as well as Flare skins?
I reckon we could do with some full project templates, so that you have a ...

I like the look of a lot of that, esp Team Server and X-Edit.
The relationship between X-Edit and X-Edit Express isn't too clear.

That's why I don't find it that intuitive.

However, Analyzer can only find/replace the same bit of text with ...

Re: How to insert Math equations and formulas
From how you describe it, it sounds like it's not a Flare issue per se, but how you can display these math objects in a HTML page.
Using Math or Word, can you save the functions as a HTML page (which could be imported), or maybe an image format that can be inserted in a topic?

Cheers, that seemed to make sense initially, but after a few tests I'm still not sure I follow why it works this way.

Yep, Flare does fall over a bit too often for my liking, and a lot of crashes seem to be when it's doing processes that involve handling a large number of files. I can think of 2 or 3 activities that will reliably bring it down.

I'm not saying that you should have styles in there that you don't need or use, I'm saying that if you don't know what they are then perhaps you should find out before you delete them.
For example, I didn't create expandingBody and dropDownHotSpot in my stylesheet, so should I delete these?

Re: 5 Powerful Timesaving Flare Tips You Don't Know About
Some good tips, they could do with more detail though (esp. 4), and also saying why they're useful.
I'd strongly disagree with (5) though, I'd only delete styles that you do know about.
