PSider and Nita,
Thanks for these responses. Yes, PSider, that was my issue, and I've flagged that post. There's a lot there and it's the end of my day, so I need to rest my eyes before I wade into that solution. Nita, thanks for jumping in. I'm a bit leery of the other ramifications you hint at ...

New chap start on same page without losing autonumber?
Hi,
PDF Output.
We're trying to have our chapters NOT start on a new page (customer request aimed at cutting down on wasted white space). We can use the Properties dialog for each chapter in the TOC to specify no chapter break and tickety-boo, one chapter follows after the next on the same page. But ...

Noncompliant PDF output - missing end text operator
I see a bunch of posts from more than a year ago from people having trouble with PDF output being non-compliant for 508/Accessibility. But is anyone having issues more recently?

Re: Source Control Issues after Updating to 2018 r2?
Hi folks,
A similar issue: my Pending Changes list is filling up with files that have already been deleted. They are not in source control (SVN) and they are not in my local Content folder, but they won't leave the Pending Changes list. If I do manage to make them go away (recommit them again), they ...

Re: Where do we change mailto address for customer feedback
Ah, thanks. I looked all over the SideNav skin we're using and couldn't find anything. Didn't realize there was a separate skin for the Toolbar in the Topic per se. This is what I was looking for. Thank you!

Where do we change mailto address for customer feedback
I would have thought that entering "change mailto" in Flare's help search would have brought up some basic information about where to set this property. But goose egg results, likewise for every other keywords I can think of for this. The Flare default customer feedback address of someone@someplace ...

Re: Can I import from SVN +then bind immediately to Git?
Hi Nita,
Your response jibes with the opinion of my devs. They are still emerging from a very painful SVN-to-Git migration process for all our code, and were doubtful that Flare would be able to do this with the click of a button and still retain the histories of my documents. I've taken my grains ...

Can I import from SVN +then bind immediately to Git?
Our Flare project is in SVN. We're moving to Git (GitLab) for source control and I need to migrate the whole enchilada. I have been given a set of instructions for how to pull the project from SVN into GitLab, but it's like twenty pages of scripts and Linux commands and makes me want to run out into ...

Re: Table Columns expand when generating HTML5 help
set the max-width property of the <td>s in the first column (by giving them a class, or using a pseudo selector).
For me, it's the middle column of three widening to the point where the third column is scrunched. I want to try setting maxWidth but where do I apply this selector? I created a td ...

failed to create project - directory is not empty
Hi,
In searching for help on this, I've run across topics about "directory not empty" going back to the dawn of Flare on this forum, but never in relation to creating a project. A coworker is getting this error every time she creates a project, even though the directory is patently empty. When she ...

Can a rendering page check for CSH content?
I have my header/alias file created with an identifier for each article in our Webhelp. Right now we hardcode a button into particular pages of our web-based application's UI that links to the appropriate article. But what we'd like to evolve to is having a piece of code in the header of every page ...

Re: Handling changes in Content folder structure wrt compili
It looks like this is a viable solution, but I have two further questions.
1) I've set up a header and alias file and tested the links, and they work. If I now change a file in my Content directory (change its name or move it into a subfolder) will Flare update the Alias file automatically as part ...

Re: Handling changes in Content folder structure wrt compili
Thanks both of you for the help understanding this and for the good ideas. I am not yet using full-on CSH, so the identifiers are theoretical for us at this point. But it sounds like what Dave describes -- using the alias file -- might be exactly what we need until we implement CSH the way we want ...

Re: Handling changes in Content folder structure wrt compili
Hi Psider,

Handling changes in Content folder structure wrt compiling
I broke all the external links to our webhelp because I changed the Content directory's flat structure and put all the topics into folders by topic type (Concepts/Tasks/Reference) and then by UI component. For some reason I had thought Flare was ignoring the Content folder structure in compiling ...

Re: Reporting on Unused Images
Here's what I'm seeing. Nothing about unused images. There is the inverse (Files with Images), but that isn't really the exact opposite and even if it was it wouldn't be of much use.

Re: Reporting on Unused Images
In the report file, you can clear all the "unused" check boxes (e.g., Unused Multimedia) *except* Unused Images and thereby get the info you seek.

Re: Snippets as table rows? Well, I never...
Nita, I checked out your link. Thanks! The description lists look pretty much as I thought they would. It turns out I have created such things just using p. tag subclasses and applying CSS. But the description list tags should come in very handy. It's still not crystal clear to me how you'd single ...

Snippets as table rows? Well, I never...
Does anyone have experience creating snippets that can be pulled into tables as individual rows? Our API has lots of params and response fields that get used over and over again, and I'd like to single-source the tabular data. In this way I hope to avoid saying "This is a required field" in one ...

Re: What's Your Opinion of Mimic?
I'm now looking into video as well. Assuming that Mimic vids will integrate (relatively) seamlessly into Flare webhelp, my question would be whether that native interoperability would give Mimic an advantage over Camtasia Studio , which is also an option for us if we want it. I didn't see anyone ...
