Re: Font size in editor of Flare 4 versus Flare 3
Just a thought, but has the user changed the Windows DPI? Flare v4 might support proper DPI scaling within, when 3.1 didn't. Just a shot in the dark.

Re: Flare 4 slower than Flare 3.1
My project is over 6000 topics, so I'm not really sure topic size is a consideration.

Re: Flare 4 slower than Flare 3.1
Cursor movement is slightly slower, as well. I'm not sure why things seems just slightly slower (it's not a big problem in my case, but for someone with less computer power, it might be a serious issue).

Re: Popup Link to External Topic Not Working
Jodie, I'm not able to reproduce what you describe -- if I use merged projects, image popups work fine. If I link to an external CHM (without the merged project), the popups don't work at all.
Jodie, sorry I can't help you. I would like to know how you got your links to chm B (an external chm, I ...

Re: Flare 4 : list-style-image don't work anymore!
Pinpointed...it's only if you have a number as the first character in the class name. After some research on the web, it appears the reason it is not allowed in Flare is that Firefox will not parse class names that start with numbers.

Re: Flare 4 : list-style-image don't work anymore!
The issue appears to be the class name -- if I remove both the zero and the underscore from the class name, it works fine. Could be a bug?

Or a corruption problem. Or an application problem.
What kind of resources do you mean? This happens to me on fairly good hardware, when I'm not running out of RAM, virtual address space, or anything else of the sort.

Re: Year Variable
I figured that might be the case. I poked around the Flare program files trying to find out if there was any nifty little XML or other code we could hack up, but I came up empty. Looks like system variables are hard-coded into the Flare app.

Sure -- just create a new variable, call it currentYear (or whatever), and enter the year. You will, of course, have to change it manually every year.

Re: Failed to run command 'Copy'
I have seen this issue in Flare 3.0/3.1 as well. For the most part, the copy *did* succeed, and I can paste whatever I copied, but the error popup is annoying. I didn't see it in any previous versions of Flare that I recall. I haven't noticed it in Flare v4 yet, but I haven't used F4 nearly as ...

Re: Remove page from project without deleting it - Flare v4
How do I remove a page from the project without deleting it? I thought I was smart: I put it in a different directory and left it out of the TOC but I discovered that you can get to this material via the index. So, what is the normal procedure? Deleting stuff is not something that is very well ...

Re: Inlcuding image and caption in Named Element
You don't need to give them the same name. For instance, the first screenshot in my topic I give the name 01pict and its caption I call 01text. If there's a note that also needs to be revealed, then I name it 01note. The second screenshot is 02pict, second caption 02text, and so on. When I create ...

Re: Slow cursor movement when using arrow keys in v4
We use a Core2Duo 2.33 GHz and 2GB RAM on WinXP Pro, and I've noticed a slight decrease in cursor performance from 3.1 to 4. It isn't enough to hamper my usage. I figured it was a result of the intellisense, etc. which I have not turned off.

Re: Inlcuding image and caption in Named Element
The normal way to combine tags for togglers is to use a <div>. In Flare, you select the tags you want, and then Format > Group, pick your div class. However, I'm not sure that would work embedded within a list.
The other method is to name both elements the same name, and point the toggler at that ...

Re: flare 4: disable scan on startup?
I'm not sure about a way to turn it off entirely, but you can improve performance by going to Tools > Options to open the Options dialog. Select the Analyzer tab, and you will see a checkbox "Disable Collecting Phrases." You could try that.

Re: Multiple "Books" - One Project Or Multiple Projects?
I'm still bummed by the fact that you can't put a "topic file" on a "TOC link" from a master TOC. And bummed that they didn't put in my recommendation of a "topic file" associated with a TOC link in the TOC entry properties dialog....Therefore, clicking on a TOC link from the master TOC still doesn ...

I don't exactly love the registry, but there are things it does that ini files don't.RamonS wrote:Honestly, there is nothing the registry can do that an ini file cannot do as well. And support for ini files is good. Even an XML file is an option and in any case better than the registry.

The registry for any Madcap application can be deleted, The application will recreate it on the next start.
Good idea, but: "The registry" ... a bit small that bit of information ... any more precise directions?
What about the path HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MadCap Software\Flare ?
