That's fine when you want to copy a certain stylesheet into every new project, but that's not really what I'm looking for.
What I would like is one central stylesheet that would be used by all projects, existing and new. That way I only have to update one stylesheet to align all projects to any new ...

Using external stylesheet
I have different projects (creating help content for different software products),and I would like to share a stylesheet so that it can be used by all of my projects. Does anyone have an idea how I could do this best?

Hi Rob,
Would you mind telling me what you did to solve this? I found your thread in the forum and was hoping to find a solution here, since I'm facing the same problem.
Thanks,
Siska

Re: Cross references: way to change style in case ref is removed
Thanks Lisa and Steve, but I'm not looking to style all my a hrefs or xrefs in the same way in print output.
Let me make it clear again:
- xrefs must be blue and underlined in online output, always
- xrefs with an active link should always be blue and underlined in print output

Re: Cross references: way to change style in case ref is removed
I don't think that will help, because I would like to keep the text, and only remove the link style (blue-underlined). I believe a condition tag would simply hide the whole word + link.

Setting the table width to 99% is an option too (with regard to the table width issue).

Re: How do you have a page break for each topic?
What you could do is to start a new section on every topic, that would include a section break in Word before each topic. You can do that in the TOC. Make sure you're in grid view, select all topics (ctrl-a will do the trick), press F4 to bring up the properties window, click the Printed Output tab ...

Cross references: way to change style in case ref is removed
I have a help project that exists both in Context Sensitive Help form as in Word (printed to pdf) form, and it includes a "What's new" topic that is packed with cross-reference links to the associated topics in the Help.

Re: Expand TOC by default
Problem is that I always create a top-level topic with a short intro and a mini-TOC proxy. So I can't place that on the same level as the child topics, because the mini-toc wouldn't contain any links.

Re: Expand TOC by default
Yeah, I thought of that as a workaround too. It's a pity though there's no real option to control the expand/collapse TOC for an online target. I think I'll submit a feature request for it.
Thanks, Richard.

Expand TOC by default
I have a very small project that opens with an introduction topic on the top level of my TOC. All other topics are arranged as child nodes under this intro topic.
When the help is launched, it opens the intro and leaves the TOC collapsed, so that you initially only see the intro in the TOC. I would ...

Re: list styles appearing in the paragraph style dropdown list
Kevin,
I assume you did, but did you log this as a bug with Madcap?
I think this is silly too, since simplified view is also very useful for advanced users, giving you a means of comparing the settings of different styles.

They are listed, but hidden away in the category "(Generic Classes)" at the top of the list.
It took me a while too to figure that out

Re: list styles appearing in the paragraph style dropdown list
If you want all your styles to appear in one list you should create tag-independent styles. Don't link them to the P or li or... tags, but just create styles like .bluebold or .bigmargin instead of p.bluebold and li.bigmargin. That way you can apply these styles to any of the tags you like.

Re: list styles appearing in the paragraph style dropdown list
Try pressing F12 or choosing View > style Window from the menu. The complete list of available styles will appear in an easy-to-use list on the right.
Note however that the styles are still related to the tag they're associated with! If, for example, you have some specific list styles (like li ...

Re: How to specify which heading levels are included in Word TOC
Great!
I alwaus thought that the "mc-heading-level" was meant for assigning a heading level in Word (and I got the impression that it didn't always work as expected
).
Thanks!

How to specify which heading levels are included in Word TOC
Is there a way to tell Word to only include H1-H3 in its TOC and leave out H4-H6, even if those are used as heading tags in some topics?
Just for clarity: I know how to do this in Word, but I'm wondering if there is a way to specify this in Flare.

Re: list styles appearing in the paragraph style dropdown list
In a related note, I think we should put a sticky in this forum entitled "IT'S SAFE TO USE THE TOOLBAR LIST ICONS--REALLY REALLY." This would be for the benefit of everyone who's used Word and knows that you never ever ever use the toolbar icon to make a list because, well, Word does strange things ...

Re: H0 style causes problems
What I would do instead is make a class from H1, then apply the changes to make it behave the way you want it to. Basically, it would appear in the stylesheet more or less as you have now, only instead of calling it H0 you would call it H1.HeadLevel1 (or something like that).

H0 style causes problems
Since I had to provide an additional level of headers above my existing H1-H4 levels, I decided to create a new style called H0. But when I wanted to apply that style to a heading paragraph, it wasn't available for selection in the Style dropdown.

Re: Autonumbering - Confused
Woohoo, it finally works!
Apparently the n+ and Cn+ increments fail when you combine them with the secnum and chapnum arguments. It seems to be better to leave those out of autonumbering schemes for headings and go for the (much simpler) global numbering scheme instead.
