Re: Turning the menu proxy into an accordion menu
One other thing I discovered, which happens even in the sample project that Straygoat has available to download from his blog post , is that the menu entries that are books only function to expand/collapse the submenus beneath them and don't display the topic to which they are linked. If you don't ...

Re: Turning the menu proxy into an accordion menu
So, I'm back.
I painstakingly worked my way through Straygoat's multi-part blog post (thanks so much for that huge effort, Straygoat!) only to discover that things weren't working as expected because I unthinkingly downloaded and installed the latest version of Foundation (6.4.2), and his write-up ...

Re: Automatically add topics to a TOC file?
Hi aneedell,
Hopefully by now you've resolved your issues, but just in case, or for the benefit of others, we're doing something very similar, where we import generated API documentation into our Flare project at build time, and after much gnashing of teeth, got it to work as follows:

Re: Turning the menu proxy into an accordion menu
Thanks, Dave, for staying on top of this, and providing examples. I will be working on implementing this shortly (with thanks to Straygoat for his exhaustive blog posts) , and may come back here if I have questions.

Re: Turning the menu proxy into an accordion menu
Just noting that I added my name to the list of users who would like this feature to be implemented in Flare. Everyone here is expending a lot of time and energy on something that should be part of the product, so hopefully they're listening and coming up with a native solution. If you haven't ...

Re: Invalid Syntax With JS Accordion Menu - SOLVED
kwag_myers, did you use this for a single-level "menu" in your content, or did you get this to work for the TOC side menu proxy in the top nav output? I'm interested in doing the latter, but it seems like it involves a whole different level of complexity. Somehow, I'm guessing that this doesn't ...

Re: RESOLVED: Suppressing bullets in HTML5 Glossary as page
Here's another odd thing I noticed. For some reason, Flare wraps the glossary terms in an anchor tag, which causes the term to appear as a hyperlink when you hover over it:
<a class="GlossaryPageLink" name="123799213_anchor3">My glossary term</a>
To prevent it from showing the hyperlink style ...

Re: RESOLVED: Suppressing bullets in HTML5 Glossary as page
While it's nice that you can use the Google inspector to find the exact class to target, it seems less preferable to specify styles on a class that Flare does not actively expose, so after a bit more digging around, I ended up using the following code to suppress the bullets:
li.GlossaryPageEntry ...

Re: RESOLVED: Suppressing bullets in HTML5 Glossary as page
Thanks for posting this, Riley. It annoys me greatly that there isn't a more obvious way to do this. I would actually prefer a table to a list, but it seems that MadCap has a bias towards building it as a list and there is no apparent "lever" to pull to change that behavior. At least losing the ...

Re: Processing lag in 2017 r2 causing big trouble
Am I the only one who finds it maddening that when you report this issue to Flare Support, they act as if this is only happening to you, and send you the same old tired instructions about "repairing" your .NET framework (which is such a strange process that it's impossible to tell what, if anything ...

Re: Ability to tag content using logical expressions
Here's how I resolved my situation for now.
First, I created a snippet for the per-output-conditioned TOC menu so that I could change it in one place for both master pages as new outputs are added:
<div class="TOCMenu">
<MadCap:menuProxy data-mc-skin="/Project/Skins/SideMenu.flskn" mc-linked-toc ...

Re: Ability to tag content using logical expressions
Well, I thought I could still achieve what I wanted by creating a TopicType condition called Regular and applying it to every non-API topic, but alas, this didn't work.
When I put the following code into my master page, I end up with both menu proxies on every page, one with 2 heading levels, and ...

Ability to tag content using logical expressions
I'm pretty sure this is a feature request, but it would be nice to be able to apply conditions to content using logical expressions such as MadCap:conditions=" NOT TopicType.API" . Currently, as far as I can tell, logical expressions are only supported at the target level when specifying how to ...

Re: Can a variable definition include another variable?
But here's where my solution potentially falls down. If it turns out that you want to produce a single target that builds the doc for all the sub-products into a single output/tree, then you can't set the product-specific snippet variable values at the target level, but instead must do so on the ...

Re: Can a variable definition include another variable?
One more point on this. When you edit a variable in the Target Editor to provide a target-specific value, I don't see an option to insert a variable in the definition, so you have to fake it with some typed-in text value to add an entry in the target file, then edit the target with the Internal Text ...

Re: Error while generating target with command line
I just ran into this exact issue, and have to say the documentation on how to use madbuild is woefully inadequate. It took me an hour to figure out that it needed a forward slash. For a Windows executable. After expanding the hidden "note". That mentions that it needs a "slash". And only when you ...

Thanks, whunter.
Okay, I admit I didn't read the doc entirely ( http://help.madcapsoftware.com/flare2017r2/Content/Variables/Shared/Creating-New-Variables.htm ), but in my defense, there should be a topic for each dialog that lists all the buttons along with a brief explanation for each and a link ...

Re: Can a variable definition include another variable?
Okay, I guess there's another way to do this using a set of variables and a snippet:
So, instead of one variable that contains "Copyright © 2017. MyCompany All Rights Reserved.", you can make several variables:
Company.Copyright: "Copyright ©"
General.Year: "yyyy"
Company.CompanyName: "MyCompany ...

It would be cool if you could define a variable that contains another variable. For example, for a copyright notice variable, I would like to embed the General.Year variable so I don't have to remember to update the copyright variable when the year ticks over. Perhaps ...

Thanks, doc_guy. I was searching on how to use keyboard shortcuts for quick find and replace, and somehow came upon this thread. I don't know if things have changed since you posted this, but, at least in Flare 2017r2, I found that you need to select the content first and then start recording the ...

Re: Flare on a Mac
Oh, thanks for clarifying that, Nita. I agree the Macs are gorgeous. I splurged on the 27" iMac for myself and love the screen - it's like a wide-open vista. But this machine purchase about which I'm debating is strictly for work, and not on my dime, so I don't need to be quite as concerned about ...

Morning, Rona.
Like bianca-writer reports about (I assume) her setup, the Mac side of my computer and the Windows side don't know that each other exists. I don't use any shared folder that both OSs can access. Others will have to weigh in on your question about shared folders.

Re: Flare on a Mac
I'm going to be starting a new job shortly and have been given the option to choose either a Mac or Windows laptop. In the event that I convince them that Flare is the way to go for docs, I want to make sure I haven't painted myself into a corner with my choice of machine.
