Ideally, what I need is to have MoTW enabled in WebHelp and still be able to open a PDF in another window, in two different situations: (a) on clicking a link in a topic, and (b) automatically when a topic loads.
I know this is asking a lot but if anybody on the forums can help me with this I'd ...

I can't reposition items in my workspace any more. If I float the Index window, for example, no drop icons appear for me to drop it on to. Anyone else seeing this?

Re: CHM Output: Red Asterisk on Topics & Book Icons
Another possibility is that a previous author has set a particular HTML Help icon against these TOC entries.
To check this, open the TOC editor, right-click the TOC entry and choose Properties. In the Properties dialog, on the Advanced tab, check whether the HTML Help Icon drop-down is showing an ...

WebHelp Plus and CSH
I'm helping to plan a large WebHelp system and thinking of using WebHelp Plus.
If I have one main project and a bunch of merged sub-projects, is it possible to aim all the CSH calls (URL or javascript, I don't mind which) at the main project, or will my app need to specifically address individual ...

Re: Conditions, levels, and includes overriding excludes
Odd. Because that is not the behaviour I'm seeing ...No, if you exclude a folder, then all files inside the folder are excluded, regardless of any conditions used on those files.

Re: Conditions, levels, and includes overriding excludes
I have noticed that if a folder (in Resources, under Project Organizer) is set to EXCLUDE and a topic within that folder is set to INCLUDE, the topic will be EXCLUDED.
Really? Because that's not my experience. I've found that conditions applied to folders have the same effect as conditions ...

Hmmm. That's odd. My Content Explorer window has a New Folder button right on the menu bar, as well as a New Folder command on the right-click menu.

Re: Exclude content not linked directly or indirectly...
Hi Nita. The situation I had in mind was where the help system relied on A-linked or K-linked topics, some of which may not be included in the ToC. But I'm not denying that MadCap have provided a very useful feature.

Exclude content not linked directly or indirectly...
I've been playing around with the Exclude content not linked directly or indirectly from the target option.
As expected, it pulls in topics that are not in the ToC but which are linked by hyperlinks or Related Topics controls. Also as expected, it omits A-linked and K-linked topics.

Re: WebHelp Skin icons source folder?
FYI, this is a consequence of MadCap's decision to make skin files completely standalone (i.e. not reliant on links to outside resources such as image files).

I'm guessing that MadCap are doing this so that everything about a skin is in the .flskn file?

I think you meant Skin Editor?
Also, I'm pretty sure that browser size/position is possible only when opening the WebHelp with a CSH URL, or a JavaScript call.

I have avoided the Generate resized images option for a while as I found (when I first tried it) that the images it produced were of a rather poor quality compared those produced by Word itself. I'll give it another look. Thanks for reminding me.

A predictable question, I know. Knowledgebase article?
UPDATE: Well, a problem we had where hyphens were being ignored in the WebHelp Index tab seems to have been fixed. Thank you, MadCap!

We also found that it was possible to overwrite content in Subversion, and immediately reported a bug. Since then, we have been using Tortoise as our Subversion client and will return to Flare only when MadCap can demonstrate that they have fixed this.

Personally, I think Samuel Johnson's dictum applies. Print output of CSS formatting may not always be done well, but one is surprised to find it done at all.
