Re: FMCOpenHelp2()

Although it doesn't seem to be mentioned in the Release Notes, and is undocumented in Flare's Help, this issue seems to have been fixed for Flare 5.0.

The FMCOpenHelp function now includes an optional fifth parameter:

FMCOpenHelp( id, skinName, searchQuery, firstPick, pathToHelpSystem )

This ...

Re: Flare v5 Release Notes

I want the opposite! I have a personal copy of MadPak at home, but use the company version of Flare at work. I'd rather keep the emails relating to these products separate.

I don't want to be unreasonable, so how long should I wait for the upgrade email before assuming that it's gone missing?

I'm now happy, but perflexed that "Generate resized copies of scaled images" is defaulted to on.
Yeah, that perflexes me too. :)

Even more perflexing, it can't be turned off for PDF.

Re: Tutorial: Flare 4.2.1 + SVN + TAMTAM SVN SCC

Could you say a little more about the problems you had with pushOK and Tortoise? Our developers use TortoiseSVN for their code and if I decide to add my Flare sources I'd prefer to use their tools if at all possible.

Look in the Skin Editor for your WebHelp, on the WebHelp Setup tab, and make sure the Hide Navigation Pane on Startup check box is clear.

Re: Skin Developer Kit -SKD for Flare?

I'f you are referring to RoboHelp's FlashHelp format, then there's no equivalent as Flare doesn't support Flash-based Help.

You can customise Flare's WebHelp output quite extensively through the Skin Editor in the UI; there's no stand-alone Skin Editor.

Hmm. Your CSS looks fine; I'd expect that to work. Have you tried putting a <div> around your <pre> and giving that the background colour?

Re: multiple outputs from one project: index and search question

If I've understood you correctly, you need to create condition tags for each product (say, Product1, Product2, Product3, Product4) and condition your content accordingly. Everything that only applies to your first product gets tagged as Product1, and so on. Content that applies to all products can ...

Re: Change Title of Browser Window?

It's defined In the skin: Basic tab, Caption field.

In the past, some people have reported that Flare sometimes "forgets" edits to this field. If you have this problem, you can always use a text editor to edit the .flskn file directly (you need to set a Title=" your_caption " attribute within the ...

Re: FMCOpenHelp2()

It is possible, I think, to make this even simpler:

function FMCShowHelp( webHelpSystemPath, id, skinName, searchQuery, firstPick )
{
var webHelpFile = null;

var webHelpSystemPathUrl = new CMCUrl( webHelpSystemPath );

var locUrl = new CMCUrl( document.location.href ).ToFolder ...

Re: WebHelp can possible based on user access levels

Ok, thinking about it, this would work if the Web application loaded only the Default.js file appropriate to the current user role.

Apologies, Paul. :oops:

Re: WebHelp can possible based on user access levels

I don't think Paul's suggested solution would work if you are using Flare's JavaScript CSH API, because all three help systems would have a JavaScript file called Default.js. Actually, even having three differently-named help systems wouldn't work, because their JavaScript files would still stomp ...

Re: New Air App Installation Overwrites Existing Air App

You may want to send that as feature sugestion, so that the Madcap guys can add that info into the target.
It already is in the target. It's defined in the ID field of the Adobe AIR Options dialog.

Re: Can you use CSH with WebHelp AIR target?

Well, this is not quite the same as publishing the CSH API for AIRHelp. We've always known that it's possible to pass parameters to an AIR application. The question is, which parameters?

Re: FMCOpenHelp2()

I think that, with a little hacking of Default.js, I can get what I want. I've tried a few experiments, and this looks quite hopeful, although I haven't tried bundling yet.

{
var webHelpPath = null;

WebHelp URL visible in IE7 and Chrome

Despite turning off all the usual browser settings in the skin (Toolbar, Menu, LocationBar, etc) I still get the URL of my CSH WebHelp system showing up at the top of the browser frame when using IE7 or Chrome. Only FireFox plays nice by displaying a pristine frame. Do I have to live with this or is ...

Flare prompts intrusion attack warnings

While Flare 4.2 is running, it is prompting "intrusion attack" warnings every 2 seconds at other computers on our network that have Norton Personal Firewall installed (see screenshot). The "attacked" port is 8210. At best, this is annoying. At worst, it is perhaps wasting resources and masking ...

Re: Can you use CSH with WebHelp AIR target?

As far as I am aware MadCap do not (yet) support CSH calls to WebHelp AIR output. To be fair, again as far as I am aware, Adobe have not published the CSH API for their AIR output either (although this may have changed in RoboHelp v8).
