Re: Custom ToC Icon HTML 5 skin

Hi Dave

I can't remember how I did it! That's why it's so embarrassing!

I suppose it's possible I hacked the skin file to produce the attached, but I think I'd remember that!?

Odd

Custom ToC Icon HTML 5 skin

This is embarrassing.

I've set up an HTML 5 skin with a custom TOC Item class that has a distinctive icon. When I open the skin in the Internal Text Editor, I can actually see the Style defined within it.

But I CANNOT find the style on the Styles tab of the HTML5 Skin Editor.

I'm looking under ...

Well this is disturbing news. I'm still on 2017 R2 and it's often slow AF now.

Re: Create a Snippet from a Table

I had to do something similar, and the way I did it was to make the rows that I wanted as snippets as a table with just a tbody.

Now it depends on how you format your tables, but I my situation I was simply able to:

table (with thead) and rows.
table snippet here
table (optionally with tfoot) and ...

Thanks, CM. Suspected that might be the case. Flare Help says the feature is supported in Word output, though. *sigh*

Can't get {pageref} to work in Word output

No matter what I do, {pageref} in a cross-reference only ever evaluates to "on page X", never any of the other options like "below" or "on the next page". I've checked that I'm using the print medium and my customised MadCap|xref. myclass styles are definitely being picked up, but still no joy ...

Flare 2017 r2 - OK to upgrade?

Hi

When Flare 2017 r2 was first released, I and my colleagues noticed a fair amount of criticism in these forums regarding various bugs. We decided to stay with 2017 and hold off on r2 until the situation settled down. Since then, MadCap have released build 6355, and now the forums seem calmer.

So ...

Re: Applying styles within list elements

FWIW, I do the opposite of ChoccieMuffin for pretty much the same reason. All of my li elements have p elements so I don't have to worry about how they are formatted separately. Admittedly, without Ctrl+; it would be more of a pain.

Re: 2 questions on Word output (DOCX support and style suppo

Mary

(1) I'm pretty sure Greg is referring to Word's Page Layout > Columns feature which, as far as I know, is not supported in Flare output (open to correction if I'm wrong).

(2) Auto-numbering. of for example nested headings (2, 2.1, 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.2, 2.2.1 etc), is supported in Flare output ...

Re: Logic of Conditional Tag Include Vs Exclude

Totally agree that this can be confusing and counter-intuitive.

Bottom line is that conditions applied to a folder act as if they were applied to all the files within and beneath that folder.

Cross-reference that preserves link text?

I could have sworn that there was a cross-reference format that preserves the link text and didn't (say) overwrite it with the H1 of the target topic. But I can't find it. Was I dreaming?

Windows Security Warning

Hi

I have Windows 7 and get Windows Security Warnings every time Flare 12 starts up (I'm guessing because of the Start Page).

Is there any way to avoid this?

TIA

If this is the case it must be a recent change. Works as you expect in Flare 11 for HTML5 output.

Re: Flare 12 and Word Output - Problems with <Div>

One thing that I have been trying is to replace <div>s that might affect Word output with other structural tags that, AFAIK, Word will still ignore, i.e. <header>, <footer>, <nav>, <article>, <section> and <aside>.

Re: Flare 10 Word target is not indenting tables within list

After I complained on Twitter about this, MadCap did get back to me with a Flare 12 workaround.

If you wrap the table in a div, it should indent correctly in a Word target.

Re: Unchecked "Generate resized... images", but it still doe

Bumping this (again) because the bug is still present in Flare 11. Is it fixed in Flare 12? I can't see it in the Release Notes and given MadCap's track record when it comes to bug-fixing, I'm not holding my breath.

Appendix numbering

This should be really simple but I'm struggling. What I want is:

Appendix A
A.1
A.1.2
...

followed by

Appendix B
B.1
B.1.2

But what I get is Appendix A followed by Appendix A again, and the numbering doesn't reset.

Can anyone tell me why the following doesn't work?

html.appendix h1
{
mc ...

Re: Assign multiple classes to an element

Another way to do it that doesn't require access to the Text Editor is to use the Attributes window (Shift-F12).

Select the td or th by using the structure bar, Shift+F12, then type the classes you want (separated by spaces) in the class field.

But Dave is right, table styles are probably your ...

Flare taking image from .props file?

What seems to happening is this:

When I open the image from Content Explorer, Flare is showing the correct, up-to-date PNG file, but in the XML Editor and at build time it's substituting the original (now long superseded) bitmap from the props file.

Anyone else seen this? I'm thinking of hacking ...

Something's got screwed.

Am I right in thinking that the FileSync folder wouldn't normally be under version control? It's not there on any of my other projects.

I think what I'll do is use SVN Tortoise to delete the FileSync folder from the repository and then pull out a ...
