Re: Puzzling Flare UI Issue
Good suggestion, but it didn't work. Sigh. I guess I'll just have to try a re-install.

Re: Puzzling Flare UI Issue
Thanks Marjorie. Unfortunately I see the same thing in every WebHelp target in every project (even a brand new one). My colleagues aren't seeing this at all, so I'm beginning to think that my copy of Flare has somehow been corrupted.

Index pane hanging in IE8/9 and Chrome
Is anyone else seeing this? The WebHelp displays fine but the Index pane just hangs with a progress bar. ToC, Glossary, Search, all OK.

Re: CSH topics in TOC?
Rob may have inadvertently given the impression that you can't exclude topics from full-text search. That's true in HTML Help but not in WebHelp. Just clear the Include topic when full-text search database is generated check box on the Topic Properties tab of the Properties dialog.

Re: CSH topics in TOC?
On the other hand, not only do I not include CSH topics in the ToC, I don't link to them, or include them in the index or full-text search. My philosophy, strongly influenced by Michael Hughes's work on keystone concepts, is to view the CSH topic as a highly specialised form that has no relevance in ...

Re: Binding a Flare project to Subversion
I'm interested in implementing the sort of GPL linking that Nita describes, using Flare's SVN support.
When you manually re-import globally-linked files into the child project, does Flare recognize that as a change to those files and automatically check them out of SVN in the child project (i.e ...

I don't know if it's relevant to your preview problem, but the Flare Help says that mc-multiline-indent is supported only for print outputs.

Re: Auto-numbering and Appendices
Thanks Nita. I had hoped I could do this in a similar way to my normal section numbering (see below), but my current attempts are not working so I may have to resort to chapnum after all.

Auto-numbering and Appendices
I need to set up autonumbering so that I get headings numbered as follows:
Appendix A (for H1)
A.1 (for H2)
A.2
A.2.1 (for H3)
A.2.2
A.3
Appendix B
B.1
B.2
B.3
etc, etc.
I'm sure this should be straightforward. Can anyone help?

Re: newbie Source Control question
I have never heard of a source control product that didn't use a local working copy, although I suppose it's possible. It doesn't matter that your local machines aren't backed up every night, as long as every author remembers to commit their changes to the server at the end of the day (ideally, more ...

This should also work:

Fooling Flare into generating separate Word styles
As we know, when Flare builds a Word target, it parsimoniously (or infuriatingly, depending on your viewpoint) never creates a new Word style when it can reuse an identical one it has already created.
Sometimes (I’ll leave out the explanation why) I want to force Flare to create separate Word ...

I have put a snippet in the Master Page that I plan to use for my WebHelp.

This appears as fixed in the 8.1 Release Notes:

Can anyone tell me what this is about? At first I thought the two CSH APIs had been brought into synch, but if so the Flare 8.1 Help has not been updated accordingly...
