You can't view a CSS file directly in your browser either (I don't think)...
Nope, it'll just appear as text, just as if you were viewing it in the XML Editor. Although it might be color coded when viewed in the browser...

Your project will be able to find it when it asks for the information in ...

Re: Import or convert .aspx files?

I wonder if this would work... First, create a copy of your project to use as a test. Then in the copied project, change the online target's output type to .aspx. Try importing the .aspx files and see if it recognizes them any better. It probably won't, but it's worth a try. If it does work in the ...

Re: How do I create a cross-reference to a numbered step?

Added another request. This is a real nuisance, particularly as ALL the other authoring programs I've played with - even Word - allow this really easily.
The problem is, they're not really analogous. When you use an HTML list, the numbers are not added into the content at all . If you build the ...

Re: Print TOC centre aligned problem

More than likely, you inadvertently changed the text-align attribute for one of the tags in your stylesheet. Unfortunately, there are a few places you might have done it, so you have to check them all. Alternatively, you could open the stylesheet in the Internal Text Editor and do a find in source ...

Re: Cannot generate chapter titles using Running H/F

You can sort of do running H/F in PDF by using the built-in heading variables in the page layout. I haven't checked them in Flare v10 to see if they added more options, but they used to be a bit limited. For instance, you could use the variable for last h1 tag, but you couldn't specify a specific ...

Re: Export Identifier Table?

I'm pretty sure you can just copy the file out of the project and open it in Notepad. It's in the {ProjectName} > Project > Advanced > CSH folder, where {ProjectName} is whatever you called the project in Flare (e.g., ABC_UsersGuide). The header file you can open in Notepad. If you open Notepad, you ...

Re: Another way to import image files?

Your original post was importing them into Flare, not moving them around once you're in Flare. You wouldn't have relative links in your topics to those images prior to import. Or are you saying you have a topic in Flare that's pointing to an image contained outside the project? If so, that's not a ...

Re: UI navigation

First, are you double-clicking on items in the Content Explorer, or just single-clicking them? Double-clicking them opens them in the XML Editor (the main area in the middle of the screen). Single-clicking them just selects the file but then it waits for you to either right-click to access the popup ...

Re: Replacing Logo in Skin Editor

Yeah, that's always bugged me that the skin doesn't use relative paths to image files that you could store in the Resources\Images folder. Instead, it stores them elsewhere, which means that if you want to change the image, you have to reload it into the skin. I keep copies of the images in a sub ...

Re: Hide initially, then show navigation pane?

The only way I can think to do it is to have two skins, one with navigation turned off, one with it turned on. The one with it turned off you set as your default skin for the project. In your landing page, you append the other skin name to your links (I believe there are examples in the Flare help ...

Re: Showing a List or Multiple Paragraphs inside a Toggler

You don't need to put the list in a div. The ol or ul tag is comparable to a div, at least for this purpose. Make sure you have the "Show Blocks" option enabled for the left and top blocks. When you have the show blocks turned on, right-click on the ol or ul block (it'll be along the left side of ...

Re: image in page layout footer right-aligned, not centered

Usually if something doesn't show up in the header or footer it's because the content is too tall for that header or footer. It looks like your footer is 47px tall, so if your image, plus the padding/border/margin of the image and its containing tag all add up to 47px, then it won't show the image ...

Re: Linking to folder vs topic

You generally don't want to do that in non-Flare websites either, unless you have your web server set to allow directory views. That's generally not recommended from a security perspective, I don't think, unless it's an FTP site and you have it walled off from other websites/servers.

Re: tags in snippets in master pages, control at file level

This works fine except for the intro topic itself. Obviously I don't want it linking to itself (looks broken).
For this situation, I'd create a second masterpage that didn't include the link, then apply that masterpage just to that intro topic. I actually have three masterpages in my projects ...

Re: TOC levels 4 and 5 omitted; 6 appears as #4

To put a spin on what Nita does, I use h1 tags as the first heading in all topics. If there are subheadings in the same topic, then I'll use h2 for the second level subheadings, and so on. This way, for online outputs, the top heading styles don't jump when you switch from topic to topic because you ...

Look at the stylesheet to see how you have the <ol> tag defined, and if you have an ol li complex selector, look at its definition, too. You might have set line-height to 0 or set some other attribute that's causing the effect.

Re: TOC wil not print when I generate PDF output

I'm not sure what you mean by the Project Properties window.

To have the TOC appear in the printed output, you need to create a topic and insert the tocProxy in that topic, then add that topic to the TOC file (via the TOC Editor) that your print output is using.

Re: Need to get rid of table borders

Outer borders and column separators. No local formatting, it's a table style. I'm working in HTML only.
You need to set border:none on the <td> and <th> tags, not the <table> tag. You can have a border on the table tag, but that only applies to the outer rim of the table, not its cells. If you don ...
