Re: When Compiled - Output does not display topic content

You can have multiple masterpages in a project and associate different topics with the masterpages. Do you have just one masterpage or did you do several masterpages? Although that doesn't really explain why one of the topics that doesn't work still shows the snippet text, since that's part of the ...

Re: Tables always left aligned. I want them centered

does that mean your tables are always left aligned too unless you go in and add the center tag?
Yes. When I insert the table I usually leave the default positioning in place because most of my tables are 100% width. For tables with less info, I'll either add the center alignment manually, or I'll ...

Re: What do you think about the Ribbon?

It took me HOURS to figure out that I needed to click the icon in the upper left corner to get a save/open, etc. drop-down menu.
Just out of curiosity (since I don't have Word 2007 and I'm holding off on the upgrade as long as possible), did the Word help tell you where to go to get that menu, or ...

Verify that the topics are associated with the correct masterpage and that the setup of the masterpage is correct.

Re: Graphic-Based Navigation?

I don't believe there's an option to apply a conditional tag to the image map hotspot at the time you create it, but after you create all your hotspots, then you can open the topic in the Internal Text Editor to make your changes. You should (theoretically) be able to add the MadCap conditional tag ...

Re: Tables always left aligned. I want them centered

To be honest, I usually just open the topic in the Internal Text Editor and add align="center" to the table tag. It's actually being deprecated by the W3C, but it still works in the browsers. You might want to open the topic in the Internal Text Editor anyway to see what inline styles have been ...

Re: Importing Frame files always opens old version of Frame

Did you try installing the patch for FM 8? I don't know if that'll take care of this issue or not. From the KB article, it sounds like it's directed to users who upgraded from FM 7.2 to FM 8 but didn't keep FM 7.2, but maybe it'll fix your issue.

The KB article is at http://kb.madcapsoftware.com ...

Re: Tables always left aligned. I want them centered

Are you building to Word/Framemaker or to WebHelp? If you're building to WebHelp, then it should work. When you tell Flare to center the table, it applies an "auto" property to the left and right margins inline in the table tag, which in web output will cause it to be centered. That effect isn't ...

Re: Missing Linked Stylesheet errors

In the Content Explorer, right-click on topic1.htm and select Open with > Internal Text Editor. Look for the stylesheet reference near the top of the page. It's possible there are several references. The Properties page shows the stylesheet list as if you could only select one stylesheet, but you ...

Re: Add Wavy Line to MS Word Output

Don't think it's possible to do dynamically. Depending on how many hills and valleys you want in the curve, you could sort of have it work dynamically by creating a small graphic with on section of the wave. Then in the stylesheet, you'd create a new paragraph class and would specify that graphic ...

Are you viewing the Flare WebHelp from MadCap's server?

Do you have problems with the images in your project if you're viewing locally, through a web server, or both?

Re: Receive Error: 'Style' is null or not an object

I still think that the fact that it works going through Windows Explorer but doesn't work going through an http:// address points to a problem on the server. Do you have another server, like a development server, that you could upload the output to to see if it also has a problem?

Replaced ToolbarBackground.jpg (with a custom image)in MadCap Flare V3\Flare.app\Resources\WebHelp\Default.flwht\Images.

Unfortunately, there's not an either/or option in the Skin Editor. You choices are to specify a gradient or solid color for the toolbar background -- you can't tell it to pick a background image. Yet. So the presence of the toolbackground.jpg file is just a backup in case it has a problem filling in ...

Re: Receive Error: 'Style' is null or not an object

Did you put any custom Javascript or other programming code in any of the topics? I did a search on that phrase and most of the responses came back to programming errors. I've never had that error when I've posted to a server, so I don't think it's Flare's normal code that's causing a problem. So ...

Re: Local Formatting -- Odd results using Select All

When you selected all and applied a font, it applied the font to the <html> tag, not the <body> tag. It doesn't seem like you can apply inline formatting to the body tag through the XML Editor. The easiest thing for you to do, is do the select all and apply the font again. Save the topic. Then right ...

The ToolbarBackground.jpg file is a backup or placeholder image; it's being called in the MadCapToolbar.js file, but I couldn't figure out a way to get it to go with that image instead of the default gradient. I didn't spend much time on it, but you might be able to figure it out (it's in the output ...

Re: Receive Error: 'Style' is null or not an object

Does it happen in Firefox, too? And on someone else's machine? If it happens in both browsers then it may be something set up on the server with the way it handles http calls or .css files. Navigating to it through Windows Explorer is a different call, I believe.

If you clear your cache in IE ...
