I don't recommend that one, or if you have to, do it as a last resort -- Word's HTML output has a lot of garbage in it that you'd want to strip out.

Re: CSS property for adding text to a style, like "NOTE:"

Is it not showing up in IE? The before/after/content is apparently browser-specific, but the auto-numbering method is a Flare feature; I don't think it's standard HTML. So Flare is actually dynamically adding the content as if it were regular text, so in the final output, it will be just text.

That ...

Re: Aren't underlined hyperlinks THE web style usability std

I tend not to use underlines if the hyperlink is obvious or indicated in another manner. For instance, a list of news/press releases with or without a bullet, arrow, or other image for the bullet. If they're all grouped together and under a category heading like "News" or "Press Releases" then I ...

How do folks generally feel about using browser detection "if" code?
It's a PITA having to do it, but no real objections to doing it. I'm not sure how you'd incorporate it into Flare, though. First, the WebHelp output is in a frameset, so I'm guessing the browser detection would have to be put ...

Just tried that and it didn't work. I also tried the "content" property in the unclassified category, and although it worked in the XML Editor, it didn't work in the online output. It's either not supported by the browsers yet or it's a print-only ...

Would I put the body proxy into a table or something (in the Master page)?
That's an excellent suggestion (although I've never tried it). For online output I'd recommend using <div> tags, but Word doesn't like DIVs much, so the other alternative is to put a table on every topic.

Note that if you ...

Re: Choose between linking PDF files or Mark of the Web? Really?

Oh - and for anyone reading this post, I also talked with Scott Deloach, and he told me that if you run WebHelp from a Web server (which we do for some of our help), then you do not need to turn on MOTW. So, this workaround is unnecessary for those people.
And in some cases, having MOTW enabled ...

Re: Choose between linking PDF files or Mark of the Web? Really?

From what I've read on the web, the MOTW is still supposed to work in IE7 like it did in IE6. Make sure you delete the Output folder before compiling again, and it wouldn't hurt to clear the browser cache and history.

I just tried moving my Docs folder to the root instead of under Resources, and it ...

Re: Choose between linking PDF files or Mark of the Web? Really?

I found a workaround that works with Flare and the users won't get the warning message. I tested it in IE6 and Firefox and it works. Someone else will have to test in IE7.

Copy the PDF to a location in your project. In the example below, I put it in a folder called "Docs" located in the Resources ...

False for Firefox (which doesn't need MOTW, so it's a moot point). True for Internet Explorer.

Re: Insert Javascript in main frame file

If by "after the <head>" you mean you put it between the <head> and </head> tags, then theoretically it should have worked (so long as it was also inside of <script> tags).

However, I don't think you want to do that, since the frame page (and therefore the validation code) is always in the browser ...

Re: Search and Replace question

If the block of text is always the same, then Analyzer will detect the duplicate text and will recommend it be converted into a snippet which will then replace the regular text. At that point you could edit the snippet and it will filter to all instances of it in the project.

BTW, in Flare, if you ...
