Re: Dual Screen & Capture

Just to add the results of my own adventures with capture on dual screen:

I also run a dual screen set-up, with the laptop as the primary and a separate monitor as the secondary.
I'm running XP Pro (SP2) and Capture V4.0.0

When having Capture open in the Primary screen and capturing from the ...

Re: Images and their location in the filesystem

To comment on my own experiences,

I use quite a few images in my project, and save the aptured images in folders relevant to the application (separate from the Flare project).

When I insert the image into the project, the file is automatically copied into the Resources\Images folder in Flare ...

Re: CSH that calls entire Help system

Hi,

I had exactly the same problem, and posted a similar question.

The result was as Dave suggested, in your call, get the developers to add the default_csh.htm into the path, similar to the example below.

//help/folder/default_csh.htm#folder1/module1/page1.htm

This works fine for our ...

Re: Calling Webhelp Frame without an Alias file

Hi All,

Just a brief update,

The developers found a solution by using the following call (hardcoded within the application):

://help/folder/default_csh.htm#app/module/page.htm

Many thanks for the help and suggestions

Re: Calling Webhelp Frame without an Alias file

Hi Lisa,

I've found the relevant section, and I think I've now identified the problem:

The calls to the Help system are made without the use of a Header or Alias file.
As I stated previously, I have had to structure the Help structure to match the application structure, so when the calls are made ...

Re: Calling Webhelp Frame without an Alias file

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for the response. I've created the project, and the CSH works fine from the application, apart from the fact that I can't seem to display the frame to allow use of the TOC etc.

I've tried searching the Help system, but cannot find anywhere that refers to using the URL or javascript ...

With regards to the refresh of the index explorer, I deleted and recreated the index for my entire project yesterday, and each time the index entry was updated in the topic, and the topic saved, then the index explorer updated automatically.

It appears to be the Save that is the trigger to ...

Re: Using Prior Project as Prototype

Hi Joan,

The simplest way to do this is to create a new folder with the new projectr name, then from your original project folder copy all of the subdirectories and paster them into the new folder.
The result is that the same files / folders will exist within two differently titled folders.
The ...

Hi Andrew,

I know this isn't too helpful, but working with Capture run locally on my pc, I have never encountered that problem.
WIth having used Terminal Server (although not with Madcap products) I have also seen a delay in the refresh of data, so I believe you could well be right and it is the ...

Re: Image Map Border

Hi,

I don't know of a way of doing this directly from within Flare, but if you have Capture installed, then you can send the image directly to capture from within Flare, and apply the borders you require to the image, and after saving the image will be updated in Flare.

Re: Is there a way to include the cursor at capture?

Hi,

You stated it also appears that you can get caps of pop ups, flyovers, dropdowns etc.. on the page... you have to do those separately and combine the images

Are you running V3 of Capture? If so, you can select the region you want to capture, and then using the time delay option, set a ...

Re: Same Topic - Two Names

Hi Dave,

To explain the problem,

Each screen in the application has a name comprised of the Window and Tab (e.g. WIndow = Receipt, Tab = Summary).
When the csh is called from the application, the developers are passing the Topic, Window and Tab names as the parameters
e.g. /Receiving/Receipt%20 ...

Re: Same Topic - Two Names

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for the suggestion, but the help is not client specific, but the page names can be customised.

I'm trying to avoid a chenge by the developer, which would result in a new software release having to be issued to all of the clients, so thought I might be able to achieve a similar ...

Re: Same Topic - Two Names

Hi Kevin,

The call from the developers is to the page name, not an ID, else I would have implemented the Alias.
Also I cannot set-up an Alias with two names

i.e.
Name Alias Id
Screen 1 Screen 1
New Screen 1 Screen 1

AFAIK, the ALias Id has to be numeric, ok possible feature request, but not in ...

Re: Same Topic - Two Names

Hi,

There is a reason, and that is that the screen is only named NewScreen 1 for a particualr client, all of the other clients know the screen as Screen 1.
Therefore, I would have to have a specific help file for one client, which is a lot more administration.

The main problem is that the call to ...

Hi Chris,

Assuming your images are using the 'img' style, in the stylesheet ensure that you are using the 'Advanced' view (i.e. the stylesheet should be displaying Simplified View'), and selet 'img' from the styles list.
Once selected, the right hand pane shows the properties and one of the ...

Thanks for the suggestion.

I've tried that, but the result is still the same. I've also checked that the breadcrumbs proxy has display:block; set as well, and this still doesn't work.
I've even tried going back to V4 with the same results, so something has got messed up somewhere.

H1 Heading inline with Breadcrumbs

Hi All,

I downloaded and installed V4.1.18 this morning, and have encountered a problem that wasn;t there (I'm fairly certain) in V4.

After compiling my project and viewing the result, my H1 titles are now inline with the breadcrumbs from my Masterpage.

Should Be:

Re: Cannot get air installation package to generate

Hi Paul,

Do you know which folder Rick is on about?
When I created a new target for Air, I specified my Output folder in C:\Air (a newly created folder) to ensure that it was a unique folder well away from my normal webhelp output folder.

Is Rick suggesting that we do not specify an output folder ...
