Re: Converting RH 7 to Flare 4 template problem
...
Although there is a great deal of information on "templates" in the Flare user guide, it doesn't show a way to apply that to existing topics.
Is there a way to apply a template that includes a graphic to all topics in a project?
I'll start with this point. "Templates" are used as a ...

Re: Images not displaying in CHM using C# Help.ShowHelp method
I've got no problem with V4 - you shouldn't need the patch (and a patch for a previous version is not likely to work). But if you rename the CHM file after it is generated, and you had the option to "Patch stylesheet and images ..." set on the Advanced tab, then you will still see the problem. I ...

Re: Autonumbering - Confused
If you want to have nested numbering just within a topic, I do it almost the same but not quite. For the heading numbering, we set it to "gloabal" so that it would continue across the final output no matter what topic is was in. For paragraph level numbering you probably don't need the "global ...

There's a check box on the Basic tab of the skin that controls whether this is shown or not. You can also just remove the browse sequence file from the project (Advanced folder) if you really don't want it.

Re: TOC entries linked to DOC bookmark, not topic file
Follow-up.
It looks like an issue with v3.1 (and earlier) that has been fixed in v4.
If you have an entry in the Word TOC that says "Error Bookmark not defined" you will get the problem. If you update all fields, or at least the TOC fields, before you import it should work OK. Maybe Flare 4 does ...

Re: TOC entries linked to DOC bookmark, not topic file
I've seen this before but not recently (pre v4), so I can't pin-point the exact cause. Check the Word document again for cross references or hyperlinks in the heading, and for any field codes on the heading as well.

Re: Images broken in MS Word output when viewed on another pc
This looks like a Word problem. If the other person selects the whole document and updates the fields (press F9 key), the images should all appear. I can't think of any Word settings that would affect this (investigated update links on open, and picture placeholders).

I've no definite ideas on that one, but I'd be checking the alias file in Notepad again - maybe an opening or closing bracket got removed by mistake?
I'd check the lines around Line 86 to make sure they were well formed. Post them if you need to.

Re: Is it possible to change the project directory structure?
This is a known issue, but there are a few workarounds.
One thing you can do is just change the name of the output folder on the target tab to point where you want it to go. This seems fine initially, but if you move the project (like you want to work on it at home, or another colleague wants it ...

Re: Background image missing from printed output (PDF)
I noticed something similar when using Flare 4. If the option to resize images in the Advanced tab of the target is set ON I had some problems. This was a problem when upgrading projects from v3.1 that had images with sizes specified (yes, I reported the problem).
Might be worth checking.

Re: bullets indented too far, printing WebHelp from the browser
We create our own medium for out printed output - we call it "msword" - just to avoid this situation. We don't generally print from the browser, but I know people will often print a page here and there. Creating your own medium can be done from the stylesheet editor using the "Add medium" button ...

I'd check that each topic has the style sheet assigned, not just the target - look in Properties (or F4) > Topic Properties. The linked style sheet can become "unstuck" if you copy/paste and move files around.
You can modify the assigned stylesheet for many files at once using the Show Files button ...

Re: Is it possible to use both Page Layouts AND Master Page
Yes, you can set the different layout types for the different targets. I'm only just getting in to testing page layouts (deciding if I will upgrade), but I did a few tests. I think the idea is to use page layouts in general for print output (Word, PDF, etc), and leave the master pages for web and ...

Re: Oh please Help Me. Only odd page numbers appear in print
On the target function, on the Printed Documentation tab there is a new option called "Generate mirror margins for Word" - try setting that.
(Note - I have not yet upgraded my master pages to page layouts from the previous version, so have not tested this option yet - it is on my list).

Have a look at the "show tags" option - looks like a t in angle brackets <t> in the XML Editor toolbar. There is quite a selection of items to show/hide in the list.
