Printing a topic from HTML Help

Hello
I have a couple of questions re: the printing of individual topics from a CHM.
1. I am using a WebHelp toolbar in my HTML Help project and whenever I print a topic, there is a slight issue with the WebHelp toolbar. The topic gets printed fine but only the logo icon (on the right) and the ...

Hi everyone,
I have a CSS query more than striclty speaking a Flare question.

Re: Table CSS - columns with different settings

Hi Dave
I was hoping that it would be possible to set this in the table CSS as a column style but you have just confirmed to me that it is not possible. I will create a col style with the desired width as a setting. Thanks.

Re: Flare and nested tables

Hi Dave
Thanks again. I have finally found where the 80% was coming from. I am using a main CSS for text and several table CSS's for tables and it turned out that the td tag in the main CSS was set to 80%. It all works fine now with percentages  (as with your ems).

Table CSS - columns with different settings

Hello
I would like to create a table CSS for a table with 1 row, 2 columns, 1st column with a fixed width and second column autofit to content and I am struggling to do so in the Flare Table CSS (I am not using the main CSS for tables) as there does not seem to be anywhere where I can set a column ...

Re: Flare and nested tables

Hi Dave
Thanks for your post. I use a very similar system to yours, except that instead of using ems, I am using percentages.
It all works well with text and simple table layouts but I am struggling with nested tables as for example, the p text within a table inside a table will have a size of 80% x ...

Flare and nested tables

Good morning all
I am having fun in Flare with nested tables.
I have a CSS with relative font-sizes at body level (80%). p has font size defaulted, so it inherits the one from body . The reason I did this is to maximise the user's control of the appearance in their browsers. However this has an ...

Re: Output file size (CHM)

Hi Dave and Lisa
Wow, I produce HTML Help and did not know either that everything under the Content folder was being included in the output...I know fully understand why my CHMs are huge (I keep images, original PNGs, flowcharts and videos inside Content, even if I do not use them).
Lisa's tip is a ...

Re: Output file size (CHM)

Hi there
Thanks for your replies, guys. I thought that in Flare, we might have been able to control the amount of compression but from what you are saying it is not feasible (I just do not know enough about the back end ~ Microsoft proprietary CHM compiler).

To answer some questions, the CHM sizes ...

Re: Output file size (CHM)

Hi Pete, MikeKatz and Andrew,
Thank you for your replies.
I will investigate the recompiling function in Key Tools, but a gain of 10% does not seem worth it  .
Yes, I have the "Generate resized copies of scaled images" option enabled but it is only available from Flare v4. I am currently ...

Output file size (CHM)

Hello
We have migrated to Flare from RH 5 and have noticed that the compiled CHMs (our output is HTML Help) are considerably larger when built in Flare than when they are built using RH. Is there any way in Flare (or even outside Flare) of increasing CHM compression so that final size is not as ...

Re: Locate button always disabled

Do the target URLs of your TOC entries contain anchors ( FileName .htm# anchor )?

Hi Pete,
No the target URLs of the TOC entries do not contain anchors (none of them, actually), if by anchors you mean bookmarks.
My TOC entries are of the type /Content/HTML/TopicA.htm and a few have been linked ...

Re: Locate button always disabled

Sorry to ask again, but anyone? (This is annoying as I am now thinking of removing the Locate button as it is always disabled...).
Also this is even more of an issue for me as the "Automatically synchronize TOC" does not seem work if your topic has been linked to a TOC book and that this particular ...

Locate button always disabled

Hi
I remember seeing a post on this a while ago but I do not seem to be able to find it anymore.
Basically, if I include a Locate button in my skins, it seems to be disabled all the times on the HTML outputs (CHMs). As a result of that, I have selected the "Automatically Synchronize TOC" in the ...

ok, just to let you know that I have run both Steve's and Austin's batch files after a few issues I encountered (thanks, Steve for your help on this forum, and thanks, Austin for the PMs 8) ).

Re: Command Line Build batch file

Hi Steve and Austin
Thank you very much for your input. I will edit Steve's batch file (found the 2 backslashes a bit weird but thought there could be a valid reason for this) and try it out, and when I have time, I may give Austin's file a whirl.
Got diverted onto something else ( ) so will ...

Re: Corrupt .chm file from one computer, okay from another

Hello Gary
I have had similar issues and for me too, the unregistering and re-registering of the active X control did not work.
I would recommend you uninstall Flare on the PC with the issue, then MANUALLY delete anything left in the install directory (not everything gets uninstalled) and re-install ...

Re: Command Line Build batch file

Hi there
I have copied Steve's batch file (thank you for sharing) and tweaked it for my version of Flare (v4.0) and for my projects.
