Look at the setup of your table styles, because you could have settings that cause overlap.
We often create multipage tables that use bulleted lists and numbered lists (with autonumbering) but we don't get overlap.

Re: Black print - not made up of colors
Because Flare works with hexadecimal or RGB colors you get a black that's a mixture of all the colors.
In Acrobat Distiller you can set your colors to convert to RGB or CMYK, but does Flare support that capability? Worth a test.

Re: Notes within Lists?
You have a couple of options, depending on how fancy you want your notes to be. This is a simple one. I've left out the fancy stuff such as background, etc.
We created a <p> class, Note.

Re: Two header / footer "objects", one left-aligned, one right?
- I added a footer frame, pressed <F2>
I inserted a two-column table in the Frame Contents area.
I selected one cell and inserted my content, then did the other.
Saved the file.

Re: Year Variable
The issue is that many of us want a variable for <year> that applies to whatever we define. And there's no easy way to get one.
For example, in FrameMaker our <year> variable updates to the system year of the last save.

Re: Combine multiple heading selectors to control color?
I've only run into a couple of quirks with editing the stylesheet outside of Flare 6. The primary one is Flare sometimes stops recognizing a style. That requires opening a topic with the assigned style and (even temporarily) assigning other text the "missing" style. Eventually Flare recognizes the ...

Re: Table borders do not reflect borders defined in table style
Well, it could be that the compiler doesn't recognize "thin." Not all browsers scrupulously render the entirety of CSS 2.x.
Rather than selecting "thin" I specify what I mean as "thin" -- online it's 1px, for printed it's .5pt.
Good luck!

Yes, I specified the size of the graphic when it was in a frame. I even opened up Capture and set print output, etc etc etc.
No help, unfortunately.
I got my expected results when I reduced the bit depth to 8 and kept 96 DPI. Didn't have to specify anything in Flare either. :D For other page ...

I inserted the graphic as a background. However, that gives me another idea -- I'll try putting it in an image frame, drop it to the bottom layer, and see whether it behaves. Thanks for the suggestion!

Re: Page Layout and graphics: the challenge
I tried importing the image again (at 96 DPI, 32-bit depth) and it looks better
except
this 7x9 PNG is simultaneously cropped and bleeding.
If I adjust the page layout margins to account for the PNG size, Flare still crops the image.
Is it the bit depth that's flummoxing Flare?

Re: Incorrect PNG format for PDF targets
We're noticing something similar as we use PNG files (built in Fireworks) as backgrounds on page layouts. Lots of problems in Flare 6 because it simply doesn't want to (1) render a PNG appropriately and (2) a PNG doesn't consistently display in the PDF output.

Bullets have disappeared!
Our bullet images (png) reside in an Images folder in the Resources folder. They display in the project, but not when I print from the compiled file. Nor do they display in the PDF -- or anywhere else.

Create a <span> style for the character.
I use check marks and other symbols in online help and PDF output. So my <span> style uses Zapf Dingbats. Works great.

How does frame flicker (even with duplicated frames) have something to do with an image on any frame?

Version 3 -- doesn't show all animations
A simple demo, but two frames refuse to show animations. The animations display in preview, but are absent in the final. Recreating the animations hasn't worked either. Animations on other frames work just fine.

Here's the pieces of the one we use ... we do not have a separate stylesheet for tables. Maybe you can reverse-engineer from this code.
