As a workaround you can add the Unicode characters for opening and closing quotes and single quotes.
Tedious? Maybe, but it gets the desired result.
Flare needs support for .NET 3.x to render them on the fly.

Re: More auto-numbering challenges
I think you'd find that it's a lot simpler when you create the content originally in Flare.
A worthwhile idea, perhaps to be implemented in the future. Until then, this is our reality.

Re: More auto-numbering challenges
So instead of having one generic class to handle an ordered list of lowercase letters at the second level we have to use two? gaaak!

Re: More auto-numbering challenges
We use a generic class with autonumbering because we have several sources of data. The list restart option is unavailable because these are paragraphs . No, we aren't planning to convert hundreds of paragraphs in thousands of files.

Re: Background with Hanging Indent
You will have to adjust the style for printed material. (We have a version of the style for online and one for printed.) Because the "Note" text in my example is added when the style is applied there's no need for tabs. Apply the style and that's it.

More auto-numbering challenges
Most of our autonumbering works okay. However there are still problems with uniquely numbered items such as :

4
5
c (should be a)
d (should be b)
6

Re: Background with Hanging Indent
Here's how I coded for our tips. This formatting also holds the autonumbering of any sequence it's in.

Re: tables and autonumbering
I'm sorry I did not explain the challenge very well.
We use the same style for numbered items in a table, and for items outside a table. We are trying to find a way to apply autonumbering, by row, in a table, without having to apply new styles to thousands of files.
Is this possible in Flare?

Re: tables and autonumbering
As I mentioned I already have autonumbering in a list. But I also need autonumbering in tables which must be row-specific.
Autonumbering in the list must continue after the table, and not be affected by autonumbering in a row. Autonumbering in a row must not be affected by autonumbering in a list ...

Re: Can't access styles
You should be able to see relevant styles in the Style window (press F12). The styles that display are based upon your selection. For example, if I'm in a numbered list, the Style window shows me only styles related to numbered lists.

Wondering about the best approach for uniquely autonumbered text within a table when the table is part of a larger stream that is autonumbered.
Example

v4 CSS wonkyness?
I should be able to enter a style name like "list-bullet" -- but Flare doesn't allow (although it's perfectly kosher CSS). So I have to enter the style by hand.
I should also be able to enter a list of styles and give them one set of properties -- such as
p.widget, li.widget, p.foo { text-align ...

I'm pretty sure I understand the issue. I have the bookmarks I want, no extraneous bookmarks, or "what is that doing there?" bookmarks. And they link.

clear: both;

thanks doc_guy, I appreciate knowing there's safety in numbers.
When you're used to having typographic control, it's hard to relinquish it. Typography does so much to enhance product image with customers.
