Rather than selecting text, you can just click anywhere in the paragraph (don't double click). In the styles pane (or the drop down styles list at top left of screen) you should see the heading and paragraph styles and be able to apply them.

As Lisa suggested, performance is markedly better if your source and destination are on the local hard drive, if you are using network locations you might want to move everything local for even faster compilation.

Its a mongrel when that happens. Still, it could be worse - you could be authoring in Word. That does have auto-save, but it crashes so often its not funny (I know, I'm doing some work in Word at the moment)

Since it's inception the registry has been a love to hate feature. Before the registry we had "DLL HELL", now we have "REGISTRY BLOAT" and so on. If you're not having any problems running a registry cleaner can actually cause problems.
