Another Question if I May...

Hi Scott
Another question if I may. Where do I find a list of the attributes / methods / properties that belong to each style? I can see that there's a lot of potential for using these, and I'd like to know more.
For example, I would assume that -1 is true, so 0 would be false in the script you made ...

Re: Setting Drop-down Text to Open Expanded

Hi!

You could modify this script to open all of the drop-downs when the user clicks a button or link.

Happy holidays!

Hi Scott
First, happy holidays to you too!
Second, thanks for the script.
Finally, can you point me in the right direction about how to go about creating a link or button that ...

Re: Setting Drop-down Text to Open Expanded

I'm interested in this also. I don't know anything about CSS or scripts, and I tried to play with the script in the Toggler topic, but I didn't succeed.

In addition, instead of opening automatically, I'd like the user to be able to click on a label that says Open/Close All. Is such a thing possible?

SOLVED

SOLVED, it was IE history, I use Firefox and deleted that.
Thanks very much everyone for your help. I don't know why this has to be done in the order Lisa specifies, but it works.
Also, thanks Kevin for looking at the actual project, and Carolyn for looking at the style sheet.

Re: Editing Hyperlink Colors

Also, the "visited" option is used if the URL the link points to is in your browser history, so if you have visited the page or used the preview option to look at it etc. it will show as visited. To get around this, you can clear your browser history.

Re: Editing Hyperlink Colors

Try deleting the entire output folder and bulding again. The HTML Help might be caching the old styles. Even though Flare supposedly deletes the folder before it builds, it sometimes helps (especially when testing IE) to delete the entire output folder before building to force the system into ...

Re: Editing Hyperlink Colors

You have the visited style under the "Popup" class selected. You need to select the visited style under the (Pseudo Classes) group right below that popup class's pseudo class group. (Collapse the Popup style to hide its pseudo classes for the moment, because those aren't the ones you want to modify ...

Re: Editing Hyperlink Colors

2) The visited link shows in magenta and the incorrect blue in the HTML help file, not in Flare. In Flare, it shows in the correct blue color in the topic. But, if I preview the topic form the Flare topic, it shows in the incorrect blue and then in the magenta.

I don't know how to check this in ...

Re: Editing Hyperlink Colors

Huh...I'm trying to figure out how the visited hyperlinks show up magenta, when the style sheet calls for blue.

Did you create this project in Flare, or did you import it from another program? If you imported it, is it possible that you have two style sheets? (I've had projects that used different ...

Re: Editing Hyperlink Colors

Hi Kevin, Carolyn
Thanks for the help. However, that's not what I can see on my style:

FlareHelpLinkColor2.jpg
Two things to note:
1) The style is set to Blue for all of visited, focus, etc., no magenta in sight. Also, this is not the same as the blue that is displaying in the help. The procedure ...

SOLVED Editing Hyperlink Colors

Hello
I'm working in Vista 64-bit, although I'm not sure that it's relevant to the issue.
Here's a screen shot from a HTML help file:

As you can see, the hyperlink blue is different from the blue I set in the procedure. I'd like to make them the same, but I can't find ...

Re: Using Togglers

In most cases any naming process asks you to apply names individually. If you want to apply it to a lot of stuff quickly, you can. Just open your topic in a text editor and add a div to the stuff you want to toggle:
<div MadCap:targetName="txt">
<p>0</p>
<p>1</p>
<p>2</p>
<p>3</p>
<p>4</p ...

Using Togglers

Hello fellow Flare users
I am considering using togglers in my help file, and I have a few questions:
1) Do you think they are useful elements?
2) Is there a way for a user to open all the toggles in a topic?
3) Is there a way to select a series of paragraphs to name them and then link them to the ...

Re: Flare loses exact settings for windows

But does it happen regardless of which panes are where, or does it only seem to happen when it's the Content Explorer in that position?

Also, does it happen if you have Flare maximized across the screens (i.e., you've clicked the maximize button in the top-right corner of the GUI?)

I always work ...

Re: Flare loses exact settings for windows

Does it happen only with the Content Explorer in that position? If you put the Project Organizer there, does it also disappear on startup? What if you put the Index Explorer or Help panes in that position? It's hard to tell from that screenshot -- is the pane in that position straddling the break ...

Flare loses exact settings for windows

This came up in another post as an aside, so I think it's worth a topic on it's own.
Flare has always lost the exact positioning of my Content Explorer, etc. This happened in Flare V3.1 XP, and now Flare V4 in Vista.

This is the way it looks when I close Flare:

Re: Resizing Screenshots

Isn't it that when you resize an image, let's say 50% smaller, you have to enlarge the resolution with 100%?
Yes, but that's only for printed output. In the WebHelp output the size will remain the same.
Example of a Word output:
I put 2 images next to each other. The right one is made 50% smaller ...

Re: Docking panes behaviour seems to have changed

I'm running version 4 on XP and have Auto-save option switched on. I think it probably is the same issue as illustrated by Mike. There's definitely something a little buggy going on, at one stage I even had a pane that was set as both "dockable" and "floating". Does that make sense? I wouldn't know ...

Re: Resizing Screenshots

Are you using Capture I, II, or III? III seems to be the most managable.

I find with scale resizing sticking to 1/10s (ie .5) gives the best results, rather than trying to scale an image to 600 pixels wide. I also find png to be the most versatile file format - gifs tend to get a mottled ...

Resizing Screenshots

Is there a way to properly resize a screenshot in Capture?
When I try to do so via the properties and adjust the scale, it becomes an unreadable mess in the preview window.
I'm hoping to replace Paint Shop's screen capture, since I can annotate much better and quicker in Capture, but Paint Shop ...
