Re: Flare V4 Analyser
It doesn't slow down my productivity unless I'm trying to move content back and forth between my Draft folder and other project folders - then it becomes unusable. I find it convenient to have a folder with conditioned-out content marked as 'Draft" into which I can drop temporary topics and images ...

Here's the body of a BUG I submitted just now - yes a GREAT BIG DIRTY BUG!

Re: Making WebHelp load faster?
The sad thing is...for the "Loading - please wait!" message you'd again need a script. Is it users who have to wait or is it so far you with your laptop who has to wait?
Mostly me - although recently I noticed it is loading okay if I launch the webhelp, say, first thing in the morning - seems like ...

Re: Making WebHelp load faster?
My laptop is probably not the fastest (DELL Precision M4300 Intel(R) Core 2 Duo CPU T7500@ 2.20GHz 789 MHz - whatever my ssytem properties mean  !) Would be great if when loading Webhelp I could at least display a 'Loading please wait..." message - that way users wouldn't give the webhelp up ...

Re: Making WebHelp load faster?
I too have an issue open with support. Published ebhelp takes 40 seconds to load (despite "Done" being displayed in lower left of the browser!). After building a test project and creating webhelp output with just 2 simple topics I still got the same 40 second delay.

(Re: Previous post) Or rather "Ignore Print DPI" or be able override it with, say, 96 dpi, but still keep the print size you set for the image.

Optimising a PDF for on screen viewing
I'm capturing images with a profile that specified .png images at 96dpi for online, and .jpg at 300dpi for print. Apart from a bug associated with resizing the print size for the print format - I am able to resize images how I want them for the printed page.

Not clear on ClearType
Our software developers had a recent issue whereby they had to disable ClearType in order to make the display of rendered text sharper. Not too sure about the details, but I have always had ClearType disabled (via the Control Panel | Display | Appearance | Effects) since this makes a big difference ...

Re: Flare 4.1 update no longer available after cancelled downloa
Cancel previous post (is there a way to delete a previous too-hastily-sent post?) I just got prompted about the 4.1 update. Hmmm.. wonder if it's related to my annoyingly intermittent "MadCap Flare V4 has trouble accessing the network [] - ..." message when I start up Flare. The network connection ...

Re: Global Project Linking - can't UNlink when imports too many
I had the same problem when I mistakenly imported a lot of image files. The problem was compounded by the fact that I can't see the link icons in the Content Explorer (due to a Subversion Tortoise Svn version control related issue to do with Windows Explorer overlays) so it took me an age to ...

Re: how do i save a linked pdf?
I added *.pdf to an Import 'Include Files' list, but the PDF files are not picked up when you select ReImport (I submitted this as a software bug).

Some really interesting responses. "They often don't want to do it since it is trivial and boring. And it has to do with help" rang particularly true! :|

Refuelling 'Airplane Help’ ?
Remember the concept of 'air plane' help? Wouldn't it be a good idea if when generating Webhelp, a self-extracting executable file was also built so that you could then somehow make updates available to those users who can't always guarantee a reliable intrenet connection and need to access a local ...

Re: Rename ConditionTagSet: why is it that difficult?
No, I'm talking about having to find and replace the tags in the content, i.e. the MadCap:conditions="SOMETAGSETNAME.SOMETAG" entries in topics or snippets or image .props files. The point is I shouldn't have to.

Flare version 4 has not changed in so far as a warning mesage is still displayed in the ContextTagSet Editor:

Rename ConditionTagSet: why is it that difficult?
I have needed to rename ConditionTagSets several times. Anyway, I admit to using the old Robohelp Find & Replace tool to replace all instances of the old tag set name with the new one. I've done this often in the past with no dramas.
