CSH with WebHelp
We are planning on switching from HTMLHelp CHM to WebHelp, and serving the documentation to our users. However, a small number of customers do not allow internet access. If we give them the WebHelp and use file:// to open topics, CSH calls fail--they only display the Default.htm topic. Using http ...

Flare 8 Review feature: Bug?
When I try to make a review package with the TOC, Flare tells me that it can't because one of the files has a # in the file name. I have a Book with three topics. The Main topic is the Book (big topic )with jumps within the topic for the three other listed topics--hence the # in the file name.

Flare Output to Confluence or MindTouch
We are considering a move to Confluence/MindTouch wiki for our main documentation. Are others in the same boat? Does anyone have any experience taking Flare output and converting or creating a target for a wiki?

Re: Flare 8 Niggles
Flare support told me that ePub does not support drop downs and tables within drop downs. This should have been stated in the release notes. :(
It doesn't look like Flare supports the EPUB 3 format (yet). There's an overview of EPUB 3 features here http://blog.bookbaby.com/2011/10/epub-3-explained ...

Convert existing skins to HTML5?
Is there a method for converting existing skins to HTML5 skins? We have a custom set of skins we use for our products (logo, font, colors, etc.) and would like to do a conversion. Is this possible or should we start from scratch?

Re: Flare 8 Niggles: Add Target Dialog
Not a ig deal, but the Add Target dialog cuts off the Add and Cancel buttons. Re-sizing the dialog doesn't fix it.

Re: Flare 8 Niggles
My project has many email links. When I build it as HTML5, I get a warning for each one: "Topic contains a topic popup to an email address. Topic popup will be converted to a hyperlink." I don't get these warnings when building the old targets (HtmlHelp and WebHelp).

Flare 8 EPUB Output and Movies
The About EPUB Output Help topic says that movies are supported, but it depends on the reader.
I have tried AVI, MOV, FLV, SWF, MP4... and the compiler says the formats are unsupported. Is there a setting in Flare 8 to set the reader?

F1 generates error in Windows 7 64-bit HTMLHelp
Our users have reported (and we've confirmed) that under Windows 7 64-bit, pressing F1 does not display Help, but generates an error: "The C:\Program Files\MBF Bioscience\Neurolucida 64-bit\Neurolocuda.chm file is not a Windows Help file, or the file is corrupted."

I am VERY HAPPY to see the Equation editor. We need to put in more than 75 equations in our documentation. We used to use GIFs of the equations. Now, I'm hoping we can use this tool to streamline the use of equations.

Re: Multiple VSS Errors with Flare 6
We continue to see serious, show-stopping errors with Flare and VSS 2005. So much so that we are considering a move back to RoboHelp for our next software release. We were told that going to VSS 2005 would solve the problem. Instead, it has introduced new ones. Now, when we try to edit links within ...

Re: Multiple VSS Errors with Flare 6
Problems solved, sort of. Flare 6 does not play well with Visual Source Safe 6. You need VSS 2005 at a minimum. I've installed the server on another machine and the client on my desktop, and am adding files now to the new database.

More experimentation --
I need to manually change the Read-only property for each folder that I check out of VSS in order for the edits to be saved. And now I'm geting this error randomly.

Re: Flare V5 PDF terrible, going back to 4.2.1
It looks like a tempest in a teapot...the design group here reorganized their resource server, so the @font-face entries in the stylesheet were pointing to the wrong place, so Flare couldn't find the fonts, so that's probably why it wasn't able to embed them.
