Using chm files and runtime merging
If you use runtime merging of chm files, beware of this problem introduced by Flare V8. When a search term is used in the FTS edit box of the "Master" chm, and the search is invoked , each topic found is listed twice in the results window if the term is found in a merged chm file and there are any ...

Limit Differences
Does anyone know if it is possible with Lingo to force it to ignore 'Tag Changed" diffs when creating a Diffs project (update project) and show only files with "Content Changed"?

Previous Next buttons inconsistent
We have built a WebHelpPlus output which includes Previous/Next buttons based on the TOC (no browse sequence). When we access the default.htm directly from the www\root\webfolder in a browser the previous/next buttons operate consistently. When we access it using Localhost or the machine IP there is ...

Re: "Search" function error in HTMLHelp
This dll is deregisterd/corrupted when you uninstall a previous version of Flare after you have done an upgrade. Another solution is to simply reinstall the HTMLhelp compiler. Its actually a pretty insidious bug as you may not notice till its too late that you have lost the search function in your ...

Change name of mcpreview
If I change the name of the name of mcpreview once Flare has copied it to IIS I get a blank TOC. Anyone know why this happens, as everything else is identical. Same goes if I just copy unviewed output from the Flare Output folder to IIS.

Thanks Greg, after I posted my question I did more and more digging for a couple of hours. Yes you are right its in C:\Program Files\MadCap Software\MadCap Flare V5\Flare.app\Resources\SSCE. Spell Checking
Does anyone know how Flare decides if a word is spelt incorrectly. There must be some master dictionary somewhere but I cant find one. There is no SQL database associated with Flare that could contain a dictionary and I cant find a global .mcdic. The only mcdic files in the project level are ones ...

Re: Target Build Fails When Project Resides On A Network
Panda, the reason u cant view the chm correctly on a network is coz of an IE security restriction. You can change a registry setting which will allow it to work.
The registry change is :
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x ...

IE security error opening Web Help
I am just trying out a Web help build. When i open the default.htm page I get an IE error "This page is accessing information that is not under its control. This poses a security risk. Do you want to continue." Now this is a common error and can be corrected by changing the IE security setting to ...

Re: printed output table style
Seems that this is a limitation in Flare of not allowing the use of a custom named print medium to veride a table stylesheet. If you call your print medium "Print" it will work OK. madcap are putting an enhacement request to cover it in a future release.

printed output table style
When generating directly to PDF output and using a tables stylsheet, any option to select a table style for printed output is not applied to the table. This works fine when generating to Framemaker. Anyone had this problem?

It would be very handy for Madcap to publish detailed release notes with updates and new versions. It seems that every release fixes broken stuff that we have had a workaround for and then the workaround doesnt work. Often we only find out by accident.

If you have both chm files in the same folder all you need for the link text is chmfilename.chm::/topicfilename.html. Select Website in Link to option in the "Insert Hyperlin" dialog box.

It would be nice if the Flare doco group would correct the help by replacing their still incorrect syntax of:
