Re: Flare4 large chm files
Looking further into this i find the extra size is due to the second image file that Flare creates when the "Generated resized copies of scaled images" option is set in the Advanced tab of the target. Why the default setting for this is on defies my understanding. It has caused almost as much waste ...

Flare4 large chm files
Going from Flare 3.1 to 4 I notice that the compiled chm is now about 80% bigger than the 3.1 compiled chm. Anyone else find this?

Re: Sneak Peak Review of Flare 4
Thanks for the preview, for me the Global Project Linking is the winner. I have cursed so many times having to have multiple files across our 35 projects, or having to use VSS share and shadow to get a similar result. Of course direct PDF will save us hours of work as well. I just wonder which year ...

Re: Question Marks displaying in TOC for chm file
It does work. We do help in Simplified Chines, Korean and Japanese with no problems providing all the encoding is correct and the locale is set up. Check in the hhp file to make sure that the language is set to Japanese.

Re: Question Marks displaying in TOC for chm file
Try setting the Local of the machine you are compiling on to Japanese, before you run Flare. An easy way to do this is to use the MS AppLocale utility from http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/tools/apploc.mspx

Flare to Framemaker in Asian languages
Has anyone used Flare to produce Framemaker output in an Asian Language e.g. Korean. When we try we get an error message that says FrameMaker douent fully suppor the language, and the output is all question marks. I realize character encoding etc is a complex subject but I expected better reuslts ...

Re: Why SQL Server Express?
As far as Analyzer is concerned (and we bought three copies) I dont see the need for a database at all. Its over engineered from what should be, that is a simple project based add on that finds the basic things that have got stuffed up and tells you where they are so you can fix them. Things like ...

Re: How do I package to send to a translator?
The answer here would be for Lingo to export as a TMX file. I am hoping that can be done in an update soon. An alternative is to send all the output html files, index etc to the translator, have them translate the content and send it back to you. Though I cant quite figure out yet how to get that ...
