In the FlareWhatsNewGuide.pdf for v5, it says:
For HTML Help, these buttons will be available if you add a Web toolbar to the output. Like Web-
Help, you can specify toolbar settings in HTML Help output.
That's really why I tried this. It looks very cool. I have the Next and Previous buttons on one ...

Re: Next/Previous topic toolbar error and settings question
Thanks, Lisa. Flare 5 is supposed to support these, so I'll give support a call to be sure I'm setting it up the right way.

Re: Embedded Topic Toolbar
This has been very helpful! Thanks!
I've replaced the logo in the toolbar, but I can't figure out how to change the tooltip that says "Logo icon." How do I change or remove it?
I ran across the setting for this a few months ago, but I've slept since then. I searched for it and couldn't find ...

Next/Previous topic toolbar error and settings question
Hi, everyone,
I've just upgraded to Flare 5.
In one of my HTML Help projects, I added a topic toolbar for Previous and Next topic buttons.
PrevNextToolbar.jpg
I get the following error when I click the buttons in the CHM.

Re: Sudden installer issues with Flare 4.2
The Windows installer code is 2908 Could not register component [2], according to Microsoft. Evidently installer errors 2000 and above need to be fixed through the software vender.

Re: Sudden installer issues with Flare 4.2
I'm on Vista, so is that necessary? (The .NET install sections says this isn't.)
You know--I did notice that the newly released Mimic required .NET 3.5, instead of 3.0. I do believe that I started having this problem after I upgraded Mimic and Capture. I didn't install the .NET for Mimic because of ...

Sudden installer issues with Flare 4.2
Every time I launch Flare 4.2, I now get a package installer error with a number 2908--I have to click OK twice. A Windows installer acts like it's going to run, but does nothing, goes away, and then Flare opens.
This showed up last week. I tried to uninstall and reinstall, but that didn't work ...

Re: Viewing PDFs for Mac users--need a solution
Well, that does make more sense.
I have Acrobat Pro 9, so I did use that to save it to the version he wants to use. It would be nice to do as little post-processing in Acrobat as possible, but it's unavoidable at the moment.

Re: Viewing PDFs for Mac users--need a solution
Oh, yes. It's the backward compatibility that needs to be supported. I did put in a feature request with Tech Support to add the capability to pick which version of PDF to create--just like you can in Acrobat. You can't rely on everyone to download and install the latest Reader.

After digging around (even on the Adobe forums), I learned that Mac OS X Preview supports Acrobat 5.x, so it can view it without Reader installed.

Re: Viewing PDFs for Mac users--need a solution
I don't know what his reasons are for not installing it. Evidently, before I came along and insisted on Flare as my authoring tool, they were using Word and creating their PDFs from that--on the Macs. I think the PDFs they created from their Macs made it possible to view them on the Macs ...

Viewing PDFs for Mac users--need a solution
I'm in a smallish startup company with no computer standardization yet. Some people have Macs, others have PCs with either XP or Vista.
I have a Vista laptop. Many of the developers who will be reviewing my docs have Macs and their OSX preview won't let them view the new PDFs I'm producing in ...

Re: Accessing a new font in the CSS
Thanks, Lisa,
I tried that. It turns out that the fonts are actually PostScript fonts. Flare doesn't support those yet.
So I've contacted support. Perhaps they will support them soon.
Thanks for trying!
Diana

Re: Accessing a new font in the CSS
Paul,
I tried what you suggested, but I can't get the PDF to show the Rotis Sans Serif font that's installed on my system. My WebHelp looks great!
I may be missing something in the font family. I've tried different variations of the Rotis font name since I've seen it spelled a couple of different ...

Re: Accessing a new font in the CSS
Ah, it appears I have found my answer in this thread: http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewto ... nts#p42584
I'm betting Rotis Sans is not a font on most people's PCs, so I'm fighting a losing battle to try to use it. Bummer.
Thanks!

Accessing a new font in the CSS
Today, I installed a new set of fonts (Rotis Sans) that our marketing department likes to use. I'd like to use it for my headings to give the docs some of the corporate look and feel.
I do not see the font in Flare when I try to edit my CSS file. The font files have .pfb and .pfm extensions (if ...

Re: Flare output access on Confluence wiki?
Gosh, no. I don't have a choice in the matter though. I had visions of a traditional Web site with a link to the documentation, which would at some point in the near future use MadCap Feedback. ( :feedback: One of these days I'll get there!!)

Re: Flare output access on Confluence wiki?
Kevin,
I completely agree with you. My challenge now is to figure out a way to make it work. The decision was made before I joined the company, so I didn't get to plead my case. *sigh*
I will own the content--at least a majority of it. My CTO expects that I'll have to do about 15% of content ...

Re: Flare output access on Confluence wiki?
Ugh. I'd much rather manage the content through Flare and let it live outside the wiki. Using Confluence the way it's designed seems to put a damper on my using Flare for everything. The developer putting this together was worried that Flare would cause problems because "Confluence is an authoring ...

Hi, everyone,

Of course, the developers working on this think it's really cool that Confluence can take a Word doc and suck it up ...
