Re: creating a (possibly) single-sourced document

To be honest: I would start to use conditions right from the start.

Example:
We just started a new software with a new help that follows a new concept. I'm happy for everything we find out about the new concept in the generating process. That way we see what works and what doesn't.
AND: By the ...

Re: Exclude all except conditionally tagged topics

From File List or with "Show Files":
show-files.png
But you gotta be careful: If a file has more than one condition you might run into problems!
The condition logic in Flare is: Include overrules exclude. Means: Once a topic is included by one condition, it cannot be excluded anymore.

Re: Easy way to re-associate a paragraph with a new tag

Two possibilities:
1.
a. Generate a class for the ul tag, let's say"circle" or "reddot"
b. Apply the styles that you wish that class to have, e.g. ul.reddot { list-style-image: url('../Images/reddot.png'); }
c. Assign that class to all the lists you want to have that red dot

2. If ALL the ...

Enter a bug report. I did ages ago and so far nothing changed. the more people ask for it, the higher the probability for it to be fixed.

Re: Setting Drop-down Text to Open Expanded

I understand that i can manually place a link with javascript and tell the script to click link number X, but is there a way to make this a default button, that can be applied on every dropdown?
You could have a javascript in your masterpage that is triggered onload of the topic and inserts a link ...

Sort of: You can apply conditions to the keywords and include or exclude those conditions in the target. that way you can get a different index for each target.

A "dropdown hotspot" is nothing else but a link, means: the a tag. that's where it comes from.
Just create your own pseudo classes for the a.mcdropdownhotspot ... I think that's what it's called ... or so ...

Re: Inserting Drop-Downs Containing Tables

1 extra paragraph before and/or behind the table does the trick for me - I just delete them after generating the dropdown.

Other alternatives:
1. Create the dropdown first, then have an empty table in a snippet and drag that snippet into the dropdown.
2. Have a dropdown as a snippet which already ...

Flare 7 has a menu item for that File | Import Project | Import HTML Help File (CHM) ? ... Don't know about Flare 6 anymore ...

You could use the HTML Help Workshop - you get it from Microsoft.

Re: Increase colours in a gif

Or you can turn off the gradient in the title bars of the form....or go straight to the classic theme, which will also remove the issue with the artifacts right outside of the round corners. Otherwise you'd need to fill those in with the background color of the topics or do nothing and accept that ...

Re: Snippets and indexing

Tried snippet conditions?
You could apply conditions to the keywords in the table and exclude that condition/those conditions for every single topic separately.
You might even be able to do a find & replace with regular expressions to apply the conditions to the keywords.

Re: Increase colours in a gif

A gif has a max of 256 colours - you won't get any more than that.
And if you're talking about screenshots: I don't recommend using gif for that because since Windows Vista the GUIs have colour gradients which make the screenshots look terrible if they're reduced to 256 colours. I would ALWAYS ...

2.
Did you look at the masterpage in text mode?

You can make the two topics use a different masterpage and insert a different stylesheet into it or simply insert the styles you want to change into the head of that masterpage.

Fixed your breadcrumbs? You mean position: fixed; ?
Is this your situation?

Why don't you stuff the breadcrumb into a div together with the heading and "fix the div"?
<div>

You could generate a medium for editing, e.g. "edit". In that medium you can get rid of that indent.
You then chose that medium in the toolbar of each topic and voilà - you can see the text.

Re: Bullet image isn't aligning vertically with associated text

I just looked: The hotspot is a normal link, means an "a" tag with a toggler class. You should find it and its pseudo classes in the sublevel of the "a" tag.
Here the example of a dropdown hotspot:
