yet another update: now it works ... I don't know what exactly changed it ... but now it works ...
Seems that reinstalling helped ... or sth ...

The path to the registry area that controls "left open" topics is this:

I imported the project from VSS again, but in a different folder on my local drive: It works!

Where is the "cache" that I have to empty to make it work again??

yes it does. In fact it works fine with ANY other project ...
The only thing I did with that project was the spell check for the whole project ... maybe that destroyed sth. ?

I even threw the project away and got myself a completely new copy from the VSS db.
Remarkable: on opening the new project ...

I installed Flare 4 today and found the button Locate file in Content Explorer not working properly. But only in my biggest project ...
In the content explorer only the first folder is opened ... the topic is in a folder one step deeper ...

I remember having read sth like that about an older ...

Our firewall scrambled the e-mail coming from our reseller - that's why I didn't have a clue.

How is it supposed to work then? One receives an email with the download link? Or a CD/DVD?
Or is the trial version with the licence key the "regular" way?

I could do with a hint, what to do to get it ... with license key or without.

We have the patches already. In spite of that the problem keeps popping up every now and then ...
Usually reinstalling Flare and/or reinstalling the patches helps - but that is A LOT OF effort for compiling a single help.

we imported old RH projects in Flare 3.1 and assigned the class "popup" to our popup links (by global Find+Replace).
Now we have the following problem:
If the current topic has, let's say, 7 popup links I have to click the back button 7 times to get to the last topic.

Strange behaviour that ... a few minutes ago I clicked on the Flare icon in my personal taskbar (with links to all the projects and the Flare icon). Then Flare didn't start, but seemed to install itself again. I had a small window with no text but a progress bar and a Cancel button ...

so did we. To delete the file was one of the first things we did after importing the project. And it also happens with new project ...

we have the same problem now. And in our case the programmed change of the help window doesn't happen (no navigation pane on CSH).
BUT:
We cannot rename our skin to "main", because we have more than one skin ... I don't want to rename the respective skin each time I compile a help ...

Since version 4 is not yet out: Any chance of fixing that problem with version 4?

I don't think that teh reason was your style sheet, but one of your topics with a dropdown effect. There is sth wrong with at least one of the MadcCap tags that are inserted for the dropdown ... maybe you inserted sth and deleted it again?
