Re: Process for SS-ing from Existing Project

Ignoring any Source Control SW (since i don't use any), I think you are saying that you did create a separate source project (that you call 'Standard' and that I called 'ProductSingleSource') that is not used directly for any output, but which contain topics/pages/files/ which are imported into ...

Re: How to set a non-scrolling header for WebHelp output?

1. I don't recommend setting the ovreflow of the header to "hidden": What if the heading is long and the line breaks? You cannot read it then. Put it to "auto" instead.
2. You might get away with not stating a height at all. With "overflow: auto;" the content will (hopefully) simply take the space ...

Re: Which source control system (I know, too general)

Love - we know how much you love MS. - That's not the point.
The point is that MS is liable for what its software does or does not do. You don't stand a chance with open source.
And that freedom is abused by open source developers: They publish everything they consider ready - usually without ...

Re: Which source control system (I know, too general)

A GUI you can modify is handy. That's why so many people use Tortoise. There are other front ends for SVN, CVS, etc. The developers who maintain the SVN project have a single goal, and that's to make sure that their server is rock solid. They leave OS integration in the form of a GUI to others. The ...

Thanks for the thought, Mr. Thief. I've done exactly that, but as Mr. I-Tietz has suggested, for webhelp output, it appears that all files are processed regardless. I created a condition to exclude all topics that don't belong (about 98% of them), then applied the condition en masse through the ...

Re: Which source control system (I know, too general)

The only hitch that might show up with SVN is in how you access the server. If you bind the project to a repository using "svn+ssh://releng@scm.yourdomain.com/" you'll have an issue with SVN within Flare because your SSH credentials somehow get tangled into the system and other writers won't be ...

Re: Which source control system (I know, too general)

VSS doesn't have the horsepower to handle help projects with multiple writers. I've been down that path. It was a horrible experience. We overloaded the VSS server the first time three writers simultaneously saved large projects. The developers screamed bloody murder.
We are using it for 4,5 years ...

Re: Need to exclude content from online output

Include won't work the way you want it to -- you have to Exclude the content that you don't want in the output. (It doesn't exclude everything that isn't marked as Include, instead it includes everything that isn't marked as excluded -- how's that for a mouthful of a sentence?)
It's even worse ...

As far as I know in webhelp the TOC is not relevant for the volume of the output.
Do you use conditions to reduce the number of topics for the smaller webhelp? Or do you have the same number of topics in both outputs and just have a smaller TOC in one of them (for whatever reason you might have for ...

Replace the the class span.NeedsAttention with a generic class: .NeedsAttention .
That sort of class you can assign to ANYTHING - doesn't matter if it's a span or a paragraph.
Then you will have to do a global find&replace: class="NeedsAttention" => class=".NeedsAttention"

I did that to float ...

Re: Header getting cut off in PDF when printed

If you're printing from the PDF it's a matter of print settings (page margins) and printer hardware. Printers take off a few millimeters from each side of a sheet, for the very simple reason that standard printers cannot get near enough to the edge ... you can do thar with high-end digital printing ...
