I've not noticed text "bunching" when I've used <div> tags but then I've not looked too closely. How does the output look?
What do you mean by "output," exactly? Word, PDF, WebHelp?
I was referring to this problem in a previous post:
Okay, I've done this, but I'm seeing odd things. Gee ...

Re: Page break problems
Yup, as Kevin says - whatever you want to keep together needs to be in the same <div> tag. A <div> tag can contain numerous other tags including more than one <p> tag etc. I mostly use mine to hold bunches of <p> tags, <table> tags, and the odd <img> tag. If you select the stuff you want grouped ...

Re: Page break problems
For the specific problem you described - I put both the sentence and the image in a specific div class and set the page-break-inside property to "avoid" (under Print Support), it works perfectly.
How would I put the sentence and the image in a specific div class?

Re: Missing text in topic
Are you using the latest 4.1? Ie does Flare prompt you for an update when you start it? There was a problem with the first release of Flare 4.1 which caused vanishing text in certain tags, it may be related. It has been fixed in the subsequent patch and Flare 4.1.4.

I'm seeing similar results too. PDF generation used to give me the bitmap error sporadically and take an absolute age to generate. It's speeded up significantly with the latest patch.

because my default browser is not IE, but I've gotten used to the Microsoft-only approach and developer arrogance....or better to say ignorance here. What makes me wonder is why QA doesn't catch something obvious like this.

Sorry, bad choice of words on my part. Delays them significantly would be more appropriate. I'll try disabling it for the next Flare installation and see what happens.

Ahh I wonder if it is McAfee that's killing my Flare installs as well then? I've been fine building PDFs as well FWIW.

Re: 4.1.40 Update Released
That is one of the weirdest installs I have experienced. I clicked Finish and the whole thing disappeared. I restarted Flare and it still gave me the SP1 available message, so I did it again, and then again. Then I tried to run it manually from my desktop.

Re: hyperlinks broken in Imported Word projects
When you import the document there's a tiny (frankly it ought to be bigger) checkbox on the "Source Files" tab which reads "Link Generated Files To Source Files" - it appears it is selected by default. Have you accidently left this selected per chance when you probably want to clear it? I've not ...

Re: Word / PDF Properties
Hi Scott
Thanks for your reply, I'll give it a go.
I've also found a little PDF tool which allows me to change the hidden properties in the file. I find going straight to PDF much easier these days as Word appears to ignore various aspects of CSS!

Landscape in PDF
Simply put, does it work? I have a page layout set to A4 landscape for Normal, First, Left, Right, Empty - my topic is associated with this page layout and I publish straight to PDF, but the output is always portrait. Has anyone had this working? Perhaps I'm missing something. I'm using Flare 4.1 ...

The file "SetupMadCapFlare0410.exe" was downloaded on Thursday. The file "SetupMadCapFlare0412.exe" was downloaded today - hence my assumption. I do not have the exact build numbers.

Yes I received a very prompt reply and I know they've been able to reproduce it (and probably on my project) but certainly a project. They are working on a fix and as usual MadCap support is being exceptional in every way. I know I had to roll back as I couldn't work with text I couldn't see ...

Sorry Lisa - I was referring to the 'fix' of switching between online and print layout that was mentioned rather than the hyphen property. Come to think of it I think mine only appeared when it was at the end of the line (now you come to mention it) but MadCap camp have a copy of my naughty project ...
