Re: v4.1.18 Background:System.AccessViolationException

I don't see how that workaround would work (although granted I can't test it) - when I was seeing the problem and I published to PDF, my text was still missing, in the actual PDF. Would it really work if I was using online layout? I'm intruiged now!

Re: V 4.1 | My text becomes invisible after applying Span to it!

I'm using WinXP SP3. I have IE6 installed (I did not install IE7 when autp update requested), but my default browser is FF. I DO see this bug in Flare V4.1

Re: Uninstalling and re-installing on a new computer

Yes that should be fine. I've had to uninstall and reinstall Flare numerous times on numerous machines (swapped to 3 different machines since I've been here) and it's been happy each time.

Re: V 4.1 | My text becomes invisible after applying Span to it!

Richard - by selecting the text and pressing CTRL + B (I was making something bold). I do appreciate it's not best practise by a long chalk, but sometimes I have a requirement for some span tags here and there. It was an existing topic, I've not tried it in a new topic as I have a deadline today ...

Re: System out of memory exception error popup.

I'm still getting this error despite having 4GB RAM and a 10GB Swap file which Windows does not manage - hence I suspect it's not as it looks. I've noticed with my huge project that performance goes to the wall unless I restart after each build. There seems to be some memory leak issues around this ...

Re: Flare v4.1 Released

From reading the exception I think you might need to update your analyser if you have that isntalled, or the database that it is using. I read on another forum that your required to have a Portable DB SP1.

a restart 'fixes' the exception - I've not needed to touch Analyzer (yet). That said, due ...

Re: v4.1.18 Background:System.AccessViolationException

Uninstall 4.1 from the Control Panel (Add/Remove programs). Then grab the installation file if you still have it locally) for 4.0 or re-download it from the link in your email if you don't - and off you go. That part was at least smooth! :)

Re: v4.1.18 Background:System.AccessViolationException

Roll back, it's what I'm doing right now. It seems text in Spans just vanishes, completely. Even in the output and in print. I can't work like that. :|

it's not just you...

Edit - rolled back to 4.0 and my text is mysteriously back again. I'll be stearing clear of that update.

Paul - yes. Thread in the other section of the forum. A restart appears to fix it but not nice all the same.

I've just printed the document thinking the text will show up, but no. Immediate roll back for me now. :(

Re: Problem Publishing to PDF Target

I've got it working with an old style sheet, something somewhere must have corrupted I guess. Having reinstalled both .Net 3.0 and Flare and now rolled back to an old stylesheet, the headers and footers are at least working as intended. I just have to get my styles in order again now.

Okay, with the text flow set to "Header" it doesn't work, with it set to "Default" it does work - but it looses my text. I'm so confused. :(

Problem Publishing to PDF Target

After reading much of the sound advice on here, I've binned Word and am now working towards getting my PDF Target looking shiny. However, these last two days I've been having a nightmare with ghost problems that I've struggled to track down. The one that is driving me insane I will try and outline ...

Re: Page Layouts for Word - working in PDF

Thanks Lisa, I figured it might be down to Word but I wasn't sure.

However, I am confused as to the workaround you suggested. I haven't created a custom tag for the footer.... at least, I don't think I have! The Page Layout Frame properties is where the border is set that Adobe is displaying and ...

Page Layouts for Word - working in PDF

I've got my page layouts set up but I'm a bit confused about the horizontal border below my header and above my footer. This border appears when I publish to PDF but not when I publish to Word.

The page layout has this code, and the black line is there in Flare, but vanishes when I publish to Word ...

Re: Out of Memory Exception when compiling to HTML

I increased my virtual memory size to 10 GB, and I still get this error fairly frequently.

It doesn't seem to be related to the total memory being used though, as it happens when I have very few apps open.
It just seems to be dependent on how much memory Flare is using.

Hmm, interesting. Perhaps ...

Could well be - all the more reason not to let Windows "manage" its Virtual Memory.

Re: Out of Memory Exception when compiling to HTML

I see this problem fairly often in WebHelp builds using Flare v4, and I'd never seen it with the same projects in v3.

I've got 4GB RAM in my PC and I've set Windows to manage virtual memory itself, which allocates about 3.5GB. According to Task manager, Flare always seems to be using about 1.2GB ...
