Re: Flare 4: Find and Replace Get Stuck in Loop
I don't have Flare open here but if I recall correctly you have to click the '>>' button (or similar) rather than "Find Next" to move past the current page. Sorry if that's a bit vague, it's getting late on a Sunday afternoon.

Re: System requirements to efficiently run Flare?
2 monitors!
Intel P8400 @2.26Gz
4B Ram
7200 RPM HDD
XP SP 3
Flare runs fast, very fast - it would probably run faster on 64-bit but I've not round to that yet. My build time for even my largest project (someone around the 800 topic mark) is under 5 minutes.

I must confess I always do a project clean before building. It seems to make the process smoother.

Re: Table Problem
Thanks for your reply Lisa. I have looked for elusive print medium for my table style sheet but no luck yet. The help search is throwing up too many results which isn't helping. Can anyone point me at it? There's nothing in the UI to indicate you can now use table style sheets for print and online ...

Re: Table Problem
I found this, which works perfectly in online output:
<col style="width: 20%;" />
<col style="width: 80%;" />
But Word just ignores it and carries on its merry little way.

Table Problem
Okay, this must be possible, but I can't figure it out for some reason.
I have tables and I publish to HTMLHelp and Word (*shudder* on both counts). In HTML output the tables (most have 2 columns) are set in each topic to have a column width of 150px and 350px. Clearly this looks rubbish in printed ...

Re: Error: Exception - System out of memory? on PDF compile
I don't think this error message has nothing to do with memory - my swap file is now 10GB (yes, 10GB) and I've just got the error whilst publishing to Word. I cleaned the project and tried again - all fine and dandy. I scrutinized the task manager and Flare was using nearly 900MB of memory at the ...

Re: Out of Memory Exception when compiling to HTML
Well, in theory Windows should never BSOD either....
Yes, but we hear about it frequently -- but I've *never* heard about the pagefile not auto-expanding when it was set to let Windows manage it.

Re: Out of Memory Exception when compiling to HTML
Well I found a 'geek' to talk to and have been informed that I can whack my virtual memory paging size up to roughly 2.5 x the amount of RAM I have, so 10GB in my case. Apparently Windows is pretty rubbish at managing it's own page size - it only realises it's out when it really is out, not some ...

Re: Out of Memory Exception when compiling to HTML
So, not a ribbon fan then?
I barely open Word these days, thankfully I have no need to. I just start furiously chanting under my breath if any of my work colleagues ask for help with Word 2003/2007 - it seems to scare them off.

Oh yes there were more, I just listed the one I assume is most memory hungry.
I'll defend the ribbon, for the little I do in Word (now I have Flare) it's not too bad in all honesty.

Re: Out of Memory Exception when compiling to HTML
Cheers Ramon
I checked my virtual memory size - it's already maxed out at 4GB, so unless Flare has turned into a monster, I think the error message is indicating a different problem as you suggest.

Out of Memory Exception when compiling to HTML
After weeks of everything working just fine (including today), I'm now sporadically getting an Out of Memory Exception on my CHM target. I have 4GB of RAM - surely this is plenty? I can't reproduce it everytime either, it will work 1 minute and not the next. I've seen this error cropping up on other ...

Re: Autonumbering (yet again)
There are two mediums, "print" and "non-print" - it sounds like you have autonumbering set in both, whereas you probably just want it in your print medium. If you open the style sheet in notepad or the internal text editor you can see them both by searching for "@media print" and "@media non-print ...

Re: Looks like I'll be on VISTA sooner than I'd intended
Well, I have Vista as of yesterday (I still have my XP set up too) and so far, overall, I like it. It seems fast (2.21GHz AMD + 2GB RAM), it looks nice and I've been able to do everything I want with it (I did the whole installation). In fact - it's been a mostly pleasant surprise. I did get in a ...
