Is this available in a download edition? Shipping to Canada, along with possible customs/brokerage charges could easily double the cost of the book.

Error 105: Adobe Air
Morning,
I'm just having a poke around Adobe AIR but I've hit a brick wall. All my projects are falling over with the error " error 105: application.initialWindow.content contains an invalid value". I would fix the invalid value - if I had the slightest idea where to look. I'm assuming it's in my ...

ouch...er, hello MadCap??
That's the only reason I need not to upgrade. I'd have to reapply the condition tags in both English and Japanese files? God bless anyone with more than two languages! This really has to be fixed. I'm submitting a bug.

Re: Agile development and Flare
We're moving towards Agile development as well and so far it's working very well. We're a relatively small company (7 or so developers) and the decision to move to Agile was very much a management one rather than a development one. I much prefer it as the authoring process is tightly integrated and ...

Re: Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 40.
Our theory is that it is Flare that changes the TOC-file to utf-16 and that way CVS handles the file as a binary file. But where in the process does Flare change the coding for the file? And why? And why is it impossible to open a regular topic-file when a TOC-file is corrupt?

Granted not often, but that's not an excuse.
It's just another overhead for those of us using source control systems so hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Re: Internal error: Failed to load Master TOC - #2
Yes the binary option would work - however it's not helpful when it comes to many popular tasks such as merge and diff. There's no reason to use UTF-16 so hopefully MadCap will fix this up for us.

Re: Internal error: Failed to load Master TOC - #2
Just to update this - I've been in touch with MadCap support and it's now a full fledged bug. Please add your weight to this so it gets fixed soon and the UTF-16 related pain stops.
TOC files should be encoded as UTF-8 (after being edited) instead, we are encoding them as UTF-16. This is a bug and ...

Re: McAfee Hijacked Flare 5.1 update
I had the same issue, bin McAfee if you can. It's the latest DAT update (on the 27th) that apparently triggered it - as when I rolled back to 5.0 it still thought it was a trojan despite it being perfectly happy with it for months. http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=10049

Re: Possible false positive on latest dat files from McAfee
As I think we all suspected and MadCap have confirmed - it's McAfee being a bit too ambitious on their virus definitions. I have since removed it and all is well in the world of Flare again (and my comptuer runs so much faster)!

Re: Possible false positive on latest dat files from McAfee
Hmm, interesting. I'm afraid McAfee bit the dust this morning and a new virus checker went on in my fury - it doesn't think I have a virus.
We don't have a technical department as such... I can inform you that everything was fine until McAfee grabbed it's latest DAT and then both Flare 5.0.1 and ...

Possible false positive on latest dat files from McAfee
I am not 100%,but suspiciously McAfee (yes I know, not my choice) grabbed some new dat files this morning and subsequently decided that both Flare 5.0.1 (which I was installing at the time) and Flare 5.0 (which I subsequently rolled back to) were in fact a generic trojan - detected as 'Artemis ...

Bulk Removal of Linked Files
I'm wondering if I'm missing a trick here. If I've imported a few hundred files from one Flare Project to another, and then I want to remove the link back to the Parent Project - on bulk, is there a nice way to do that in the UI? Currently I manually edit the Import File thus break the link back to ...

Re: Bitmap region is locked
I've just run into this little bug again in Flare 5.0. I will of course be submitting a bug. It's not in a particularly big project - direct to PDF as always. Has anyone else seen it in Flare 5.0 or do I get the lucky prize? I simply can't even compile - it's not as if it takes an hour - it dies ...

Re: XML Editor white background in Flare V5
I've had Flare 3.1 do that before under XP, it was after a severe clean up of the machine, a restart fixed it though.
Sorry, that wasn't much help - other than I've seen it and it wasn't serious but I would think you've already tried turning it off and on again.

For those that find this after a search... Madcap have confirmed this as a bug. So if you're publishing to PDF and using the List of Proxy - you may want to check your output carefully.

Ah yes - you're correct, it is indeed using the good old fashioned p tag. Thanks Nita! Please do add your voice to the bug report so it gets fixed nice and soon. It's a bit of a show stopper - I can't use V5 for publishing any of my PFD tagerts that contain a "list of" proxy.

Bug in ListOfProxy Flare 5.0
Good morning
Can anyone else verify this or am I going mad? I have a page for my Table of Figures. In there I have a List Of Proxy which says use "TableOfFiguresEntries" as the stylesheet class for each generated entry.
I have both my TOF & CSS in a Master Project and I pull them in as required. I ...

Re: Who is outputting directly to PDF?
I used to go to Word and then PDF but I now go straight to PDF and like others, tidy up the properties afterwards and check the page breaks. 99% of the time it's perfect.
