Have a read of this thread: http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewto ... =15#p38859 (this post has a possible solution depending on your setup).

Re: Don't break on page break
Yes, sorry. Kevin's absoluetely correct, that won't work in Word. I go straight to PDF because I got tired of Word ignoring half the CSS and doing its own merry little thing.

Re: Don't break on page break
I use a div tag for this. I created a class called div.KeepTogether and set the 'page-break-inside property' to "avoid". Then I select my two paragraphs I want to keep together and select Group from the Format menu or press the tab key - then select div.KeepTogether from the Group dialog box. It ...

Re: Flare output access on Confluence wiki?
That's not so bad then - that's how I want to use it, as a portal and a webhelp platform. Downloads will be in PDF, no edits will be possible. The actual wiki side of things is just for internal use here. I can't see how or why they'd make you use Confluence as your authoring package, as you say ...

Re: Flare output access on Confluence wiki?
Do you actually want to use Confluence as a platform to deliver webhelp (keeping the wiki side of things separate or controlled by permissions) - or actually maintain the documentation, or that 15% of the document (which seems bizzare)? I'm not too clear on how you intend to use it.

Re: Flare output access on Confluence wiki?
I'm not - but I really want to! I am waiting to hear if my company will be purchasing Confluence (I wrote a proposal) as I want to use it as a documentation delivery platform both internally and externally as you do (as well as all the other benefits). Sorry that's not much help to you right now but ...

Re: PDF URLS and XRefs opening in browser
Oh the topics were in the TOC alright - and they weren't being excluded by conditions, it was far more random! The problem was being caused by a very long table which had numerous glossary links in. These were being converted to footnotes in my printed output, however that was causing problems and ...

Re: PDF URLS and XRefs opening in browser

PDF URLS and XRefs opening in browser
Morning
I'm having a few problems with my links in my PDF target. Both hyperlinks and xrefs are behaving the same way if they are not in the same book (it's all one project). If I link to a different book then I get a PDF security popup: "The document is trying to connect to file:///C|/Flare ...

Re: I don't quite understand Snippets
I love GPL too, nearly got all my projects using my master project now. :D
I think the reason you'd use a global snippet (as opposed to a global topic) is when you have say, one paragraph within a topic where the content before and after (for example) is project specific, but the middle content is ...

Strange! Sorry I'm not sure what could be going on in that case - just thought it was worth checking the basics as they still trip me up when I'm looking for the most complicated solution.

Re: Flare v4 Style Picker
I think Kevin was talking about the Style Window - not the Style Picker. The Style Picker does indeed vanish, I assume this is intentional so it's not taking up window space after you've applied your style. If you prefer not to have the Style Window expanded or pinned, you can use the 3 button ...

Re: Style Window not listing all styles available
The style window will only list the styles you can actually apply at your current cursor position. So, does the style list differ between topics when your cursor is placed in the <p> tag (or tag of your choice) in each topic?

Re: Generic class for marking reviewed text
Hi Adrian
Sorry you're already doing what I would suggest (and use - I don't have many custom classes). I'm not sure if you can use conditions to apply formatting - that would be my other thought.

It's appears to be a known bug - I've reported it as have others: http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewto ... =68&t=7932wijnand wrote:It sounds like your Source control is synchronizing your flare project. What source control are you using?

Re: Adapting Heading Levels in Topic based on Topic level in TOC
There is a feature that you can use for your whole TOC if it's a Printed Output (I don't think you can do it for each individual topic though).
Select the "Printed Output" tab in your Target, under "Generated TOC" there's a checkbox called "Use TOC depth for heading levels" which is cleared by ...

Two instances of Flare - one is the master
Morning
Just a word of caution. If I have two instances of Flare open with one showing my master project and one showing a project that is linking to the master project, I get some very strange behaviour when I run a link report. The report will claim that it can't find any of your styles if they ...

Re: PageCount variable is incorrect
Okay, just in case anyone else needs the information or pulls this thread up on a search. MadCap support have tracked the issue down (thankfully), it was because I was using a percentage in the size of my <p> tag (I'd been experimenting with relative sizes). As soon as I changed that to default (as ...

Re: PageCount variable is incorrect
Update: It works if I set a new Chapter at each topic and I do not force my first topic to be a certain number. However - that leaves me with page v followed by page 5, which isn't so good.
In fact - it appears to be assuming (incorrectly) that each topic in the imported "front matter" TOC is only ...

Re: Flare 3.1 stays in memory after closing
My apologies - that part of your previous post passed me by. I've seen similar behaviour when binding to source control and reported it as a bug - it's definitely not just you. I've not found a solution to this other than manually handle my source control process.

Are you binding your project to source control at all?
