Re: CSS "page-break-before: avoid" property for images?
I have another problem I'm running into. My notes, tips, and cautions have a border around them, but they aren't in a table. Sometimes when I generate my printed output in Word, the note paragraph breaks from one page to another. Is there any property I can apply to the paragraph so that the ...

Re: CSS "page-break-before: avoid" property for images?
I have a special class called keep that I apply to content that I want to keep with the next item. For example, I have p.keep, li.keep, p.result_keep classes. Each of these classes has the page-break-after:avoid attribute. It's kind of a pain to apply them, but it does work. For example, with each ...

Re: Topic Review Errors
I had trouble with the stylesheet link disappearing in previous versions, but I haven't experimented with it long enough to see if I still have that problem. I think it too is a matter of the ../ being removed before the Resources folder in the stylesheet link.

Topic Review Errors
After a reviewer receives a topic I sent him (by going to File > Review), he makes a few annotations and tries to send it back to me. But when he clicks Return to Sender, he gets an error message. (Sorry -- I don't have the error msg in front of me and forgot to write it down.) Is anyone having any ...

Re: MiniTocProxy in v4 - FYI
I'm convinced Flare 4 has a bug in which the madcap.css styles have priority over those in the regular stylesheet. I tried for quite a while yesterday to style my online mini-TOC links, but without success. So I reverted to this workaround.

Re: MiniTocProxy in v4 - FYI
Thanks for your response, Dave. I guess I'm still confused about where madcap.css is coming from. Is it a stylesheet produced by Madcap on the fly when you generate a target? I'm assuming that any styles set in my regular stylesheet will override those set in madcap.css, but that's not the case in ...

Make Background Images Appear in Word Target?
I'd like to use background images in my stylesheet for all my notes, tips, and cautions. The only problem is, I'm not just creating an online help file, but am generating to print too. When I generate to print, the background images don't show. Is there a workaround for this scenario, where the ...

I hadn't even thought about the scenario of a user printing out a page with images from online help.
Here's how I do my images. I'm not so excited about it, so maybe someone has a better suggestion for me.

Re: How do you create figure references to captions?
You're right. I missed that step. I was a little unfamiliar with the auto-numbering property. This topic helped clarify that more: "Creating Auto-Number Formats for Styles."
It did work when I added an auto-numbering property to my image style. Thanks,
Tom

Re: How do you create figure references to captions?
Thanks for your reply, Kevin. However, I'm having trouble implementing the method you described. Here's what I'm doing:
1. In the Style editor, I added a "figurereference" class to the xref style, and then gave it the format See Figure {paranum}.
2. I added a bookmark to an image and named the ...

Re: How do you create figure references to captions?
Yes, you can do cross references to bookmarks and headings, but figure references are different. Usually figures are labeled in sequential order such as Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3, etc. If you use Flare's cross reference feature for figure captions, you have to specify the bookmark name. So in my ...

Re: How do you create figure references to captions?
I don't think so. Cross references point to page numbers. Figure references point to figure captions. One page may have several figure captions.
In Word, I insert figure references by going to Insert > Reference > Cross Reference, and then I choose Figure in the Reference Type drop down.
In Flare ...

Re: Create a Notes column in the printout?
Word doesn't quite work. If you try to put all the content into a table, when you generate a PDF, it repeats some of the previous content from the bottom of each page at the top. Let me just say that Word is not my favorite tool. I should have used InDesign, but Flare doesn't export into that format ...

Re: Create a Notes column in the printout?
Okay, I'm using the tables in Word route, but I'm ending up doing a lot of manual formatting. Still haven't figured out how to create a break in a table cell. Oh well. It looks good.
