Flare project with empty Project Analysis
I have one or more projects in Flare 4 for which the Project Analysis pane is empty. It simply reads "(no project)". Deleting the project's Analyzer folder causes it to be recreated, but no scanning or analysis results. I do have full Analyzer installed, but the Project Analysis pane of other of my ...

Re: TOC entries linked to DOC bookmark, not topic file
The problem has resolved itself, it appears, for the time being but might have been related to a custom Word macro that was setting the Address property of automatically inserted hyperlinks to the document name instead of leaving it empty.
Thanks for the ideas!

TOC entries linked to DOC bookmark, not topic file
Today's fly in the Flare ointment is:
A dozen or so Flare TOC entries link to imported DOC file bookmarks instead of Flare topic files, which it failed to create for some reason. That is, instead of the link defined as Content\<importname>\<topicname>.htm#<TOCbookmarknumber>, the are defined as ...

Re: Linking a merged TOC entry to a topic
This may be fixed now in Flare 4 when you link to a project, but it doesn't appear to be fixed if you link to another TOC in the same project. That's is, given TOC entry (link) Z in TOC 1 linked to TOC 2, top level TOC 2 entry A becomes a book below Z instead of in place of Z. This makes Z an empty ...

Re: Missing space in imported Word topics
Good ideas, but then the padding would apply to all images, not just the inline images, and could adversely affect alignment in other places. I'll probably write a Word macro to find all such inline images and replace any neighboring spaces with non-breaking spaces, which Flare respects.

Re: Missing space in imported Word topics
That would be a solution if the spaces made it into the topic files, but they don't:
Before import in MS Word (note the space inside the span tags)
<char style start>Some text here <char style end><Image here>
After import into Flare (space removed from between the span tags)
</span>Some text here ...

Missing space in imported Word topics
Here's the scenario:
One or more words preceeding an image (icon) have a Word style applied to them that is mapped to a Flare span style upon import
There is a space between the words and the image that is selected by Word when the text was selected for styling.
Flare strips the (trailing) space in ...

Re: hyperlinks in Word output
My experience so far with Flare cross-references is contrary to the last post that says "Cross-references will create a Word cross-reference that users can use to jump to the location." This is a huge problem since many of the legacy documents that I'm importing into Flare contain Word cross ...

Re: How to Rename Browse Sequence Book?
That will change the label of the Browse Sequences book, which is fine if all I have is one sequence. But if I have several sequences, they will all appear as books beneath the one Browse Sequences book. Is there a way to have each appear at the top level instead of the Browse Sequences book?

How to Rename Browse Sequence Book?
I've started experimenting with using browse sequences to organize subsets of topics for various user types, but when I add a browse sequence, the book it adds to the TOC is named "Browse Sequences," not the name I gave to the browse sequence that displays there. Is that normal or what am I missing ...

Re: How to Remove or Edit "See" from Imported Word References
After more testing, what I've deduced is that even though you choose a stylesheet to associate with an import, it is NOT used during the import, Flare applies its default Xref mc-format style to the import, and changes to mc-format only apply to subsequent Xrefs created in Flare.

I've only been using Flare a couple of months, but it's done this since the first time I tried F&R across files in source code.

Popups Open in New Window
Yesterday, my image map popups were opening correctly in popup windows. Today, they're opening in new windows instead, regardless of the project. They pop up correctly when previewed; it's only in a browser that they open in a new window. What could have changed? The only thing I can think of is ...

Re: Breadcrumbs in Master TOC
It's not a topic. I'm talking about the glossary generated and added by Flare when the Glossary option of the HTML Help skin is enabled. But yes, my topic masterpage that includes a breadcrumb proxy is selected for the glossary master page of the HTML Help target.

Re: Breadcrumbs in Master TOC
I'm having this same problem, but in my case the missing book in the breadcrumb is linked to a topic. In fact, one topic of the book shows the book in its breacrumb and the other does not. What's up with that?

That will be my backup plan, but this will be a frequent need and it would be nice to fix it just once. I've already got a laundry list of pre and post processing steps, so one less is a step in the right direction.

How to Remove or Edit "See" from Imported Word References
Has anyone figured out how to edit or remove the word "See" from cross references imported from Word? I can format Flare's Xref style fine, but it doesn't apply to these imported references and I have to edit every inWord cross reference.
Thanks!
