Re: "Real" quotation marks

For a left curly quote, use:

Code: Select all

For a right curly quote, use:

Code: Select all

But as mentioned, Flare will not automatically insert these.

Re: Absolute path changes into relative path

Could you try using javascript to insert the link, so that it is added when the HTML is rendered, rather than when the CHM is compiled?

<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
document.write('<img src="file:///F:/Klanten/2009/CGID/Content/Portal/image/pijl_start.jpg" />');
-->
</script>

Re: Ctrl + Mouse wheel resizing

We are trying to get resizing working in our CHM projects as well, without any success. I stumbled across this topic, so sorry for the thread zombie...

I just went through the stylesheet and eliminated any font-size that isn't set by em sizes. No static sizes now, so we should be set to scale ...

Re: CSS Parser in 4.2

I figured out why we were getting the CSS Parser: Line: 1. Char: 60. Missing colon (:) ) error. Someone had coded something by hand and had put style="Base" instead of class="Base" when trying to assign styles.

Fixed that. No more compile errors. Now to make my editors use Flare/X-Edit.

The border ...

Re: Failed to load file, perhaps you are not connected...

Just checked HKLM and HKCU \SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0 and compared to the other XP computer. No differences. Could something be causing Flare not to copy the files it needs to the Temp folder in order to preview?

Here is how the other XP preview looks; I ...

Re: Failed to load file, perhaps you are not connected...

It is XP, just with a customized color scheme. Vista has flatter edges.

The file is definitely present in the project, and he can open that file if he selects it. It even previews fine, but then its the only topic in the project that dosnt have an iframe in it.

Looking at the registry settings now ...

Failed to load file, perhaps you are not connected...

One of our users is having an issue when attempting to preview topics in Flare. Neither I nor the third user are having that issue on our computers. The file it is referencing is an iframe that is included at the top of each topic; it will not display on our preview, but normally just displays a ...

Re: No Right-Click Menu, except...

I found a way to eliminate the issue on short topics. In the CSS, I needed to add a style for HTML and for Body that set height: 100%. Then it renders that across the entire area.

I also found that Flare had defaulted the Body to 10px margins, even though I had not specified them. I changed it to 0 ...

Re: No Right-Click Menu, except...

But why do you want to disable the right-click menu in the first place?

Basically, we use HTML comments for internal purposes (about what needs to be edited, etc). We are converting over to using Flare's Conditional Text for this, but there is a lot of legacy still in place. Plus, there is just a ...

I was getting the same error ( CSS Parser: Line: 1. Char: 60. Missing colon (:) ) on several files, but I found the reason. In our new Help system, we added onContextMenu="return false;" to the body tag, hoping to disable right-clicking. This works, however I noticed an issue. Not sure if this can be fixed, but hoping someone with more Javascript knowledge might be able to chime in.

Re: Printing a topic from HTML Help

This may be the same issue we were having with printing some of our HTML topics. If the icon is set by stylesheet, it won't print if the "Print background colors and images" option is not selected in Internet Options. We had to document that as a troubleshooting step for our Help files.

Not sure if ...

Re: CSS Parser in 4.2

I tried both ways, but it didn't seem to make a difference.

As a work around, I added the color attribute to the a.Popup tag as well, so it at least renders correctly in the CHM (it still displays as blue in Flare, however, and I still get the build errors).

CSS Parser in 4.2

Just started using Flare 4.2 (we had been compiling fine in 3.1) and we're getting some issues with our link styles. We created a class a.Popup for all links that we have set to use Popups, which makes the link look slightly different. However, how Flare isn't coloring the links correctly (rendering ...

Re: Flash Output Toolbar Buttons

What you could do is split the mp3 so that each frame has its own file.
That's what we currently have; each MP3 is a paragraph or two of procedural steps, and each MP3 is the background sound of a frame. However, the animation on the frame is timed to match the description in the MP3, so pausing ...

I have been looking to using Mimic to upgrade our multimedia tutorials, formerly created in DemoShield. I can get all of the resources into Mimic (bitmaps, MP3s, etc), and I finally got them all into order, but am having problems once the Flash output is created.

Everything plays fine, however the ...

Its been a while since I posted this, but just to update anyone who is having similar issues. The Cursor object HAS to have a EndAction, even though it doesnt always make sense to have one. Mouse Move issues

We are in the process of using Mimic to recreate some old DemoShield videos that were out of date and needed to be modernized. We are going with a Flash project that we can build into a HTML Help project in Flare. Running up against a few issues with mouse movement.

I added a mouse move object at ...

We are actually doing something similar with javascript popups, and want to change the background color only if they are actually in a popup. If not, we are displaying a "print" icon. We are using this script in each file, but it could probably be in a masterpage instead:

Re: _section added to file names

I noticed this as well. Mimic seems to want to only use the name defined as the HTML file name, not the Flash files. Since we will be embedding the Flash in another file, we really don't care about the HTML file, just the SWF file.

Hello all,

We are looking at using Mimic to move from DemoShield for multimedia tutorials. Previously, we used a single DemoShield DBD file for the video, and had a subfolder of MP3s for our narrator. It appears that we can import the MP3s into a library, so they will be stored within the video ...

The "Local Machine" profile in IE should not change tho, unless a Group Policy exists for that computer (which I verified is not the case).
