Re: Question about Microsoft SQL Server
I guess I can leave SQL Compact alone and start deleting this other stuff one at a time. No idea why they're here at all.

Question about Microsoft SQL Server
I have the MadPak that contains Flare, Analyzer, Mimic, Echo, Lingo, Contributor, and Capture.
With which of these applications, if any, is the screen grab of Microsoft products associated?

Re: Inserting X-Ref inserts Hyperlink instead
It worked! Thanks, Nita!
The only thing that didn't match up is that my primary target is always PDF. I'm still trying to sell the idea of online help. Shrug.

Inserting X-Ref inserts Hyperlink instead
Why is it that when I try to insert an X-Ref, a hyperlink with no page reference gets inserted instead?
And yes, I am certain I am selecting an X-Ref and not a hyperlink.

Need to find and remove "Ghost Phrase"
I have phrases that are listed in the index, but that aren't in the text. I have opened up the pages in the text editor, but I still can't find the "ghost phrases." Is there a way I can see and edit a list of all the words and phrases that are in the index?

How to make web TOC resemble PDF TOC
My PDF TOC has a nicely formatted and indented TOC, with H1, H2, and H3 heads all laid out.
How can I get my WebHelp TOC to look like this? All I get are the H1 heads. I'd like to have the H2 and H3 heads in there, too.

How to get Forward button to work in Blue-Red skin
How do I get the Forward button to work in the Blue-Red skin? The button is there, but won't function.
The Back button seems to work just fine, however.
NextTopic in all other skins works, too, but Forward in Bue-Red sure doesn't.

Embedding Word table into Flare topic
Is there a good way to embed a Word table into a Flare topic?
I have a lengthy Word table that contains good info, but I don't want to have to create another table in Flare to get that info in.
I will if I have to.

Fixed. Back up and running. With help from tech support, I uninstalled Flare 11, did some file clean-up, and then re-installed Flare. No idea what caused all the fuss.

Re: Flare 11 won't start
Have you had a windows update recently, or one that failed?
Has your windows installation been rolled back, or software been uninstalled?
I'm thinking Windows Registry problem here...
Not exactly. After Flare failed, I rebooted. Then I got 32 updates. After restarting, I tried Flare again. No ...

Flare 11 won't start
I have already contacted tech support, but thought I'd ask you experienced folks.
Anyone ever had Flare not start, and then begin an installation process, even though you had Flare 11 installed for quite some time?
Flare is still on my machine, but the shortcuts won't function.

Notes for Flare Projects?
I was wondering if there was a "Notes" function for Flare.
Somewhere you could type in notes on project peculiarities, and so on, without having to send yourself yet another email.
Each of my Flare projects has so many project conditions attached to it, I thought it would be nice to keep such ...

It looks as though Flare can insert text boxes into topics, but what about check boxes? Does Flare "do" check boxes?
I have document to edit that uses text boxes and check boxes, and I wanted to use Flare rather than Word.

Re: What files/folders are NEEDED for distribution?
When you publish a target rather than just looking in your Output folder, all the files (and ONLY the files) that are needed for that output are published to a DIFFERENT folder. So try setting a destination and publish to that destination, then you'll get what you need without anything extraneous ...

File shouldn't be in the output
My WebHelp output folder contains a file and folder that really shouldn't be there.
How can I tell which of my topics refers to, or is linked to, the "stray" file and folder?
Is there a way to get a list of all the links?

Re: What files/folders are NEEDED for distribution?
What is your target? (Obviously not just PDF because the answer is very simple if you've got a PDF target).
Could you try publishing to a temp folder somewhere, to find out? I would have expected that Publish folder to contain everything you need.

I know I should be grabbing everything under output and my user name, but there is still a bunch of garbage. Yes, I have turned on "Exclude content not linked directly or indirectly from the target."

Thanks, Nita! Very cool idea!Nita Beck wrote:Another idea is to try instead of or in addition to the prior suggestion is to create a condition called Obsolete and apply that condition to those out-dated files that you don't dare yet delete. Then have your target exclude the Obsolete condition.
