Re: Build Target from toolbar vs. Project Organizer

It looks like you have a few targets and a few TOCs.

Target A (default)
Target B

TOC A (Default)
TOC B

Only one of these sets can be the primary. When you build from the Toolbar, the system builds whichever target is set as the (Primary).

If you build from the Project Organizer, you are building ...

Re: What do you think about the Ribbon?

In the end, the ribbon is much like the modern power steering in a car. Sure, every racer will tell you they want the good old direct steering, turning the wheel a full circle is such a waste of time, not to mention you can't really "feel the road". Every mechanic will tell you the old one was ...

Re: Create a Notes column in the printout?

I'd go with Word post-production. :)

After you export to Word
In Word
Select the Body Text or Normal or whatever is the primary style for your content text.

Modify the Style.
Select Paragraph.
Set Indentation > Right to something like 3 cm.

Small step of inconvenience for a big step towards ...

interesting...but i think its all legit requirements to be expected of the software. To find the topic you want in a 18000 project.
As Flare's projects grows from strength to strength, the user interface will have to provide functionality to support the additional load put on it. Good topic category ...

Aren't underlined hyperlinks THE web style usability std

I always thought that leaving hyperlinks as underlined was THE web usability standard to distinguish hyperlinks from normal text. But it looks like removing the underlines in hyperlinks is THE trendy thing to do. Even this forum has no underlines. Even the New York Times has removed underlines from ...

What's the single biggest Flare project you've had to manage

The projects i am working are modular and so far are broken down into sizes of about no more than 200 topics.

The larger your projects, the more important a good and efficient workflow in Flare is to you and your team. Once you start hitting more than a thousand, you're going to really need to know ...

Re: What do you think about the Ribbon?

Until i see the ribbon in other commercial applications, i think the ribbon is just gonna make the third party Windows GUI Application developers some cash and a new UI windows control to sell to software houses, like madcap.

There is still much madcap is working on. I think they are continuing to ...

All really good comments. I am sure the Flare lads and ladies are an awfully fun bunch of people. :)

IMHO, Flare caters to the authoring professional; that expects to manage fairly modest to large projects that will have to be maintained for a fair bit of time. Its not exactly ...
