Getting Pulse into Production
Does anyone have any experience that they can share with getting a Pulse server into production? What was the timeline and what tasks were involved from planning to implementation? I am trying to put something together for management that will outline this process and provide some time and resource ...

Re: Creating API Documentation
It has been a long hard slog.
When we first started, the REST API wasn't too big and just covered the basics. One of the developers dumped it all into a Work doc and I imported it to Flare and then did a lot of clean up and re-org, etc. Since then it has grown to about 4x that size or more and ...

Re: Creating API Documentation
I have great interest in this subject.
We have an extensive REST API. I have a nearly 400 pages worth of API documentation in a Flare project, but finding ways to automate some of this would be awesome. It is incredibly time-consuming. Being able to take a WADL and XSD and then apply an XSLT easily ...

Non-breaking space in a Cross-ref
I want to use a non-breaking space in a cross-ref ("{paratext}" on page {page}). Basically, I do not want the word "page" and the page number to be separated when the line wraps. Is there a special code or something I can use?

Non-Windows usage?
About 90% of my developers are on Mac (well, really Linux on a Mac). I would love to start using the Contributor tool to do reviews and get content from them, but the Windows thing would be a deal-breaker. I have moved all of my end-user docs into Flare, but I still have most of the other stuff (API ...

Re: Build failing with invalid character error
Has anyone found a way to include a non-breaking space in the cross-ref? I cannot seem to get Flare to do one in the stylesheet editor. Perhaps something I can do in the CSS file if I take it into Notepad or something? I really hate it when "page" is at the end of the line and the number is by ...

Re: all about page breaks in PDF output
Thanks for putting this together, Gary.
I already had specific styles for managing page breaks that I carried over from my FrameMaker source (BodywithNext, NumberedwithNext, etc.). I am a big believer in "no overrides," so I have been managing page breaks that way for quite some time in Frame ...

Omit Spacing at the Top of the Page
My headings typically have a good size "space above" setting so that there is white space between it and the preceding topic/section, but if the heading occurs at the top of a page I do not want that spacing. Same with body text, but there it is much less noticable. FrameMaker does this ...

Re: Who is outputting directly to PDF?
I am currently working on building a project, along with all of the necessary CSSs, page layouts, etc. so that we can output both Help and PDF directly from Flare. It will be awhile before I have it all worked out so that I can reproduce what we are able to generate from FrameMaker. Pagination is ...

Re: Mishandling GIFs during FrameMaker import
I reported this bug back in February, and I received a response from Tech Support that indeed this was a defect and has been present since 4.0 (I was wanting to roll back in order to avoid this problem). The 3.1 version did not do this, so this is a significant regression in my book.
Anyway, it ...

Never mind.... seems to be working now. I can't imagine why it didn't before.
But I am glad that all is well now.

Clickable X-refs in PDF
I have nearly finished replicating our FrameMaker page layouts in Flare and am working on some of the nitty gritty items.

Re: Stop re-sizing my graphics!!
Well I entered information about the defect, but in the meantime I will need to go back to 4.1. (At least I hope that 4.1 will not have this hideous defect, but I did not have a chance to really play with that version).
Does anyone know how to go about that? Does Windows have some sort of "roll ...

I have this for my import settings:

In Flare 3.1, turning all of this stuff off kept it from messing with any of the graphics. And that is what I want.

Stop re-sizing my graphics!!
In Flare 3.1, if you turned off the "Preserve SIze" option in the FrameImport, it did not mess with the graphic files at all. Now with 4.2, I have both the "Preserve Image Size" and the "Generate Images for Anchored Frames" options turned off and it is still re-sizing them.
