Re: Can Flare search PDFs?
We were previously using the Server Based Output option. When Flare 11 was released, we wanted to move to the TopNav skin but when I tested the search functionality, it appeared to return ALL topics within the project in the search results. It turned out this was only a problem when using TopNav ...

Can you use a snippet instead? We use a snippet file for this purpose and it has worked great so far.

Re: Limit on Number of Outputs in Single Project?
Hello, Kellie.
Thanks so much for posting this information. It is immensely helpful! I have a question about your Flare Project Import Files: do you include the .flimpfl file in your template project? And, do you have a single .flimpfl file, or multiple such files? Thank you,
albert

Re: How to get chapters to start on the right (odd) page
In the TOC Book print options, have you tried the 'Auto-end on Left page' option? When applied to the book node, I believe it should force each chapter to end on a left page and each subsequent chapter to begin on a right page. (We no longer use this feature as we've moved to a continuous page flow ...

Re: Tables always start on new page
For the table jumping to the next page, do you have the following specified in your stylesheet?
To repeat header rows, you can specify the following in your stylesheet:
Code: Select all
table
{
page-break-inside: avoid;
}Code: Select all

Re: Unwanted Page Break between Header and TOC Proxy
You might check to see if the div style in your style sheet has the following specified, as it can cause the TOC proxy to push to the subsequent page:
But this only occurs if the TOC spans more than one page.
Code: Select all
div
{
page-break-inside: avoid;

Re: Any clever way to compare 'now' with 'last published'?
We also use SVN (but don't use the Flare integration to bind our projects to source control). We work exclusively on branches, as we tend to have concurrent software releases. Each branch represents a software release and the work for that release is done exclusively on the branch. We localize our ...

Maybe a folder/file compare tool, something like Beyond Compare? Compare fresh output to a prior published output?

Re: Setting the favicon in the address bar or tab
I could really could do with the addition of a Favicon being built into Flare, preferably into the skin. We have source control and are moving towards auto publishing without Authors having to intervene. So , in this new world we won't get the opportunity to add a Favicon to the build.

We also experienced SVG images not being displayed in CHMs but did not have any crashing issues. We use PNG and ...

Not sure if this pertains to your issue, but I found a bug when using the Flare 11 TopNav skin with the "Server-based Output" option in the HTML5 target file (and the server configured to use ASP.NET, etc.). In this configuration, each time I searched for any term via the published website, the ...

Re: Setting Conditional flags in Properties does not save al
FYI - you don't need to be using Capture. A props file is created if you apply a condition to a graphics file.
Ah, good point! We apply conditions to the image once inserted into the topic, rather than to the image file itself. When I used Capture a while back, it created a .props file even when ...

Re: Setting Conditional flags in Properties does not save al
I've seen this problem too when applying (or removing) multiple tags to a file at once. This has been happening for some time, but luckily, I'm usually only applying two or three tags at a time. I should have filed a bug with Tech Support but have just dealt with this annoyance.

Re: Generating multiple single page documents
We use this feature for generating 4 separate sets of release notes (in 7 different languages for each set) into PDF format, and it works great! We use the single target/single TOC with chapter breaks applied, and it has been straight-forward for us.

Re: XML/Code formatting for PDF output
Yeah, unfortunately most of the options out there require JavaScript and thus aren't supported in PDF outputs. We use various "pre" tags to format our code. In Flare, you can select the "pre" style and paste the code into the topic. As soon as you paste the content, there is a small clipboard ...

Re: Top Nav Search Results - First Result Formatted Wrong
Yeah, I ran into this as well. I meant to file a bug with TS, but never got around to it.
My workaround was to change the default font color for the Search Result Link (#0185D1) to match the color of the first link that was acting up (#1155cc). Not the best solution, but an easy workaround.
