I've almost got my page layouts figured out - with the exception of the back cover. For the back cover, I need a blank (empty) page and then the back cover.
For PDF outputs, I need to include a single blank page (no headers, footers or body frames) before the back cover. I currently have 3 page ...

Re: Is there a way to auto-insert bolded "Note:" text
Lisa's right (of course!) that you can apply the bolding right in the auto-number format. But like her, I do prefer the span class approach. I single-source Help and print docs (and differently formatted print docs at that) from the same project. I might have "Note: " bolded in the Help, but in one ...

Re: How do I format a page number's font, style, etc.?
I agree. From what I've read page layouts are definitely the way to go for printed targets.
Regarding the page number formatting, another option is to create footer styles. When you click F2 within the Footer frame, you can select the style rather than applying inline formatting.

Re: Title Page Displayed Twice in PDF Output
Of course, as soon as I post this, I try something that works! When attempting this before, I had an empty page that didn't contain any frames. I just added a body frame to the empty page, regenerated the PDF, and no more duplicate title pages/empty pages. Not sure why a body frame was required on ...

Title Page Displayed Twice in PDF Output
I'm in the process of setting up my page layouts, and I'm running into a problem with the title page.

Re: Ignore headings to create TOC
I'm new to printed outputs too, so hopefully this helps. :)
You can control what's included in the TOC proxy by modifying the PrintSupport > mc-heading-level property for your heading styles. The value you assign to the mc-heading-level corresponds with how it will appear in the TOC Proxy. If you ...

Header Frame Background Color Not Displaying Properly
Hi,
I'm just starting to work with page layouts. I'm in the process of creating a First Page to use for chapters. After creating the header frame, I modified the Background to include a Solid color and specified light gray (#cccccc) as the Fill Start and Fill End colors. I then added a 10 pt ...

Here's the div style that I'm using for the Caution. I'm still new to CSS, so it's very possible that I may not have configured this correctly.

background-image: url('../Images/Caution_PDF.wmf');
background-repeat: no-repeat;

Recommendations for high quality graphics?
We're in the process of migrating from FrameMaker to Flare. When using FrameMaker, we created all of our graphics in Illustrator and directly referenced the Illustrator file from FrameMaker. Now that we're moving to Flare, I need to figure out the best method for saving or exporting the graphics ...

Problems with WMF as Background Image
When creating a note style, I selected a WMF graphic as the background image and set it "no repeat", but when I view the style in a topic, the image horizontally repeats at least 3 times. If I instead reference a BMP image, it appears correctly, without the repeat. This is an obstacle because the ...

Re: Div tag issue
I'm still trying to figure out the Div tags myself, but I've found that if you use the Create Group dialog box to insert the Div, you are able to add lists within the Div itself. For example, place the cursor at the Div insertion point within the topic and select Format > Group (or click the Tab key ...

Thanks! I thought this might be the case.

Is it possible to delete or rename the default style sheet mediums (default, print and non-print)? I need to use different names for our mediums, and I'd prefer not to have several mediums in the list that aren't being used.

Re: Using Table Styles for Notes/Cautions/Warnings?
Thanks for the responses! I was able to recreate it using a paragraph style. I just had to increase the Left Padding, so that the actual text is to the right of the Caution graphic. But once the paragraph style was created, I still had to figure out a way to allow for a bulleted list within the ...
