Subversion 1.8 Released June 12

Note: Flare used the 1.7 DLLs for its working copy of SVN.
It does not support the new 1.8 working copy and the 1.8 working copy is not backwards compatible.

MadCap is researching the new 1.8 but as of now Flare does not support it.

Re: X-Refs vs. Bookmarks

Cross-References refer to specific content in a paragraph or heading and display that content as part of the link. Think of them as Content References.
Cross-References specifically use Bookmarks and Headings to be able to retrieve the content from the "Linked to" file and insert it in the cross ...

Re: Linked target does not exist or could not be loaded.

Each of the "Child" project must have a target of similar type.
If you are building WebHelp in the parent project, all the child projects must have Webhelp targets also and each of these targets needs to have a unique name. When in the properties for these linked projects, be sure to select the ...

It looks like something specific to that topic causing this.
Sometimes resetting the window layout can help as well as cleaning the project:
Delete the Analyzer and Output folders.
Then Delete the Project\Users folder (Make sure it's just the Users folder).
Open the project back up and let Flare ...

Re: 9.1.1 had done something to dropdown headers

MadCap|DropdownHotSpot is what controls the link text.
I just tested this by turning the Hotspot text Red and building HTML5 and PDF outputs and the hotspot text is red. If nothing is set, it will inherit the link text from the a:link style which is blue.

If this is not the case for you, please ...

This has been addressed in V7.
If the translators are using Trados 2011, make sure they get the latest update that fixes a bug causing the translated bundles to have bad XML. This update can be downloaded through the Trados interface.

Re: Shortcut keys-- How?

This issue is not unique to us. At the heart of the problem is the fact that Microsoft decided to overwrite .NET 4.0 DLLs with .NET 4.5 DLLs and not support previous behavior in their Framework. This in-place replacement of the .NET Framework created backwards compatibility problems that are ...

This bug is introduced with .NET 4.5.
We are talking with Microsoft on this one.

If you don't need 4.5 installed, removing it and re-installing 4.0 will fix this issue.

Re: Updating selected files only (and not an entire project).

When the help refers to a file, it is referring to a Frame document or Word document.
There isn't a capacity in Lingo that allows you to only update a single topic in the Flare project.

The idea is that the Flare project and the Lingo project have a 1:1 relationship. Any changes in the Flare ...

Are the images embedded in the Frame Document? If so, they no longer have "names".
If the images have callouts or distiller is needed to get them out of Frame, they will get assigned numbers.
Flare will do its best to get the native images into a project with the option "Generate Images With ...

The content does not need to be on the pulse server.
It can be on your local machine or any machine that has access to the Pulse server (website).

Pulse needs to be installed and working first prior to setting up the target in Flare.
Once you can log into your pulse website, then set up the ...
