Re: Why go with Flare over Robohelp?

One thing I can say about RH is their customer service was exceptional. I used it for over ten years. At a new job, I was forced to switch to Flare. The person writing a comparison of the two packages wrote a totally inaccurate comparison. When I was hired, I knew all the negatives on RH were not ...

Re: Split tables into 2

In Flare V7:
Highlight the TRs you want into a new table.
Click CTRL + X on your keyboard to CUT the rows.
Place the cursor where you want the new table
click CTRL + V on your keyboard to paste the rows.
It will create a new table made up of the rows.

Re: Flare 5 crashes when I modify an image file

Flare 7 might.
It depends on what software your using to edit the image.
I know MSPaint doesnt cause Flare to Crash if you alter the images and save them.
I found Photoshop to cause issues and it looked like an ownership problem with the files.

Re: Flare 7, Analyzer 4 and the All-new MadCap Contributor

Is there a way to find out whether a particular bug was fixed in Flare 7? I was given a bug number by Flare support, so I'm wondering if there is a way to look it up by number.
From as far as I know from earlier you will get an email indicating that a request has been honoured, but most of the ...

Re: wrong TOC in PDF output file

Heading styles.
The bookmarks pane is showing you the levels of your headings.
There is an option in your PDF target file > Advanced tab called "Use TOC depth for heading levels"
Checking this will adjust the headings based on what level the topics are in the TOC.

Topics at the first level are H1 ...

You can also create a hyperlink to any pdf file and use the page number.

Acrobat pro from my understanding can post process a PDF file and add named destinations.

Re: Choose between linking PDF files or Mark of the Web? Really?

I highly doubt HH.exe (HTML Help) can envoke an embedded PDF file. It would need access to Reader and that violates its security.
You can use a standard link to the PDF file and include it in the build. The down side to this is that the PDF file will have to be downloaded out of HTML Help to be ...

If you open that SVG file in another software program and save it, does it work then?
We tested this with Illustrator and they worked fine from there.

When I view these files in Safari, they show error messages for the image.
When I view them in IE with the Visio plug-in, they seem to display fine.

Assuming you want to change the formatting of the heading text displayed in the Popup using a TopicPopup.

Popup Head controls the format of the link text when using a regular Text Popup.
A Topic Popup does not control the look of the text that is displayed. The topic itself is what is shown.

The easiest way is to open up the Alias file in Flare and assign the topics to alias'.

Assign "081Webcast.htm" to an ID and a number.
1000 for the Value
"webcast" for the ID.

Then this should work:
