This sounded familiar to me, so I dug up a link to an old thread on formatting the index: index problems . Based on that discussion, I think that "white-space:nowrap" may make the text of your index entry go outside the boundaries of the table cell.
I set my index entries to use "white-space ...

Re: Problems running SWF in final build
So the movies play in the Flare preview window, but not in the compiled help? The gray box seems like it knows the size and shape of the movie, but there is something in the configuration that is not right. I thought that if you looked in the configuration files, you might find that they expect the ...

Re: CSH links from UI don't work in Firefox - Webhelp/javascript
This may be overly simple, but have you verified that the URL structure you're building in your javascript works okay in Firefox? Whenever I'm troubleshooting CSH issues, I like to just construct the URL by hand and test it in the browser.
For example, if the URL of your default page is http ...

Re: Related Topics Not Working in WebHelp
Hi -
When you say that the Related Topics links no longer work, what do you mean? Do you get a compile error, or do you get an error when you click the Related Topic button? Or do you mean that clicking on Related Topics doesn't display the list?

Can you clarify which version of Flare you're using, and what tool was used to create the movies?

Re: Table lines on PDFs
This is really a problem with all PDFs, and it is made worse by your zoom settings. If you zoom in to 100%, the table probably looks fine. This is somewhat the case with any lines in a PDF, I don't know that Flare PDFs are any worse than ones from Word. I've never tested that.

Re: How to exclude unused files from Webhelp?
I think you're saying: This is a flaw in Flare.
It's not really a flaw, you just have an unusual project. This is the way that help authoring tools work--they assume that for your help project, the TOC is the "tip of the iceberg" for your content. Most help projects could have dozens or hundreds ...

Okay, I couldn't just quite give up, so I tried to experiment with importing the stylesheet one more time. This time I got it to work. It's a kludge, but it seems to be working.

I entered it as a bug, though they will probably consider it an enhancement. Here's what I entered as the desired behavior:

Re: Special skin for CSH
One thing to check--in your HTML Help target, on the Advanced tab, did you specify the correct Alias file? You have to have that selected when you build the project.

Hi Regina -
I did a quick test and I got it to work. I don't have an application to test, so I used the Flare option Build > Test CSH API Calls. That displays a little dialog box that lets you test each link in your Alias file. Can you give that a try?

print medium and print table style dilemma
I've got a dilemma. We have been using table stylesheets to control table formatting in our web help and PDF output. Here's a snip of a table tag:

Re: Nested index not working in Word output
Perhaps I misunderstand the use of the multiple lines in this toolbox - are they meant to enter multiple terms independent of each other, instead of a hierarchy of terms and sub-terms?

I toyed with trying to do a "floating" headings, which would allow the body text to be flush vertically, but I couldn't get it to work in PDF output they way it works in web design.

Re: Nested index not working in Word output
Hi Enrico -
I think the problem is that you need to use colons rather than semicolons between your primary and secondary entries: "asterisk:green" and "asterisk:red". This is working for me in Flare v6.

How are you handling the indent of the body text? If you want, post the style rules for your headings and body text, and maybe we can come up with someting.

Re: Control line width
The graphic may be the simplest option from a formatting standpoint, but more manual labor than if you can do it with the stylesheet.
How are you doing the left column? Does your body text column line up with it vertically? Meaning, is it like this?
Heading Body text goes

Re: Vector format for old .eps files
I haven't had a call to use vector format images in Flare, so I don't have any experience to share. Maybe someone else will chime in.
When faced with this issue In the past, I've just created a couple of test images in every possible format to see what kind of results I get.

I don't think you're going mad, I was probably using v3/v4 when I last did reformatting work on our tables, and I'm sure this didn't happen then.
Thanks for backing me up Dave. I think I must have added these table classes right before we upgraded to v5, so they probably worked when I created them ...
