Re: Setting up autonumbering...and getting compile error
After trying to use simple lists and push the output to FrameMaker, I now see that we really do need to have a couple of styles for autonumbering. Simple lists get to Frame great; number 1's are still number 1's and numbers that follow behave as they should. Unfortunately, there are other (non ...

Can I change spacing above/below Related Topics link?
Is there a way to add more space above and below the Related Topics link? In my stylesheet I've fiddled with the Box margin-top/margin-bottom/padding-top/padding-bottom settings, but to no avail. My Related Topics links are toward the bottom of a topic and I'd like for them to have more whitespace ...

Re: Setting up autonumbering...and getting compile error
Thanks Lisa! That's certainly easier than having to set up extra styles.

Re: Setting up autonumbering...and getting compile error
I had hoped I could get away with the simple numbering scheme, but it doesn't appear that I can. We have numbered steps that are sometimes separated by a tidbit of unnumbered, indented text (or sometimes a few indented bulleted sentences). A generic example is:
1. Select File > Save . The Save ...

Setting up autonumbering...and getting compile error
I'm trying to set up two styles that use autonumbering. The first style is li.Numbered1, which starts numbering as 1, and the second is li.Numbered which increments from the previous number.
First, is it correct that I set this up as a li subclass? Or should I set up up as a p subclass? I've tried ...

Re: Index shows up in search
Hi Paul,
I understand what you explained in your previous posts, but I don't see how it can hide those topics in this situation. You explained that I need to go to the topic listed in my master TOC and (I'm assuming) right-click and select Properties > Conditional text and set the condition to ...

Re: Index shows up in search
To resolve the problem with not being able to search on any terms in HTML Help, I needed to register a DLL (thanks Kevin).
I resolved the Index issue, but I'm still scratching my head about why it happened. Some background: I had created template files to use for the print version of the index, TOC ...

Index shows up in search
My boss is putting together an HTML Help project using Flare 3.1. She added the latest patch from the KB today. In her compiled help file, if she goes to the Search tab and types "index," the actual index shows up in the list as a topic. If she clicks on that listing, it opens an Index topic, which ...

Understanding hyperlinks vs. cross references
I've been reading about the cross reference feature, but I'm not sure I'm clear on when you want to use it vs. a hyperlink. Here is what I'm thinking, but I'd like to know how others are using the two:
Cross references sound like a better choice when you have a reference to a topic and your ...

Re: Problems w/running H/F in Word
I just wanted to post a follow-up, in case anyone else experiences this problem in the future. Creating a new master page worked great. Creating a new project was not necessary.

Re: Problems w/running H/F in Word
Thanks everyone! It does appear that creating a new master page will solve my problem. I'll start with that, then possibly create a new project if necessary.

Re: Problems w/running H/F in Word
Waaah!! I'm sad to say that the patch didn't help. :( I even deleted my variable file and created a new one (in case creating the variables in the demo caused a problem). I re-checked the KB, Flare help, and this forum, and everything I read describes doing the running h/f exactly as I've done. It ...

Oops! I solved my own problem. I didn't notice there were subclasses for glossary terms under div.

Cannot change print output style for Glossary

My problem is this: I generate print output to Word that includes a glossary, but I cannot change the look of the glossary entries through the stylesheet. When I look at the glossary in ...

Re: Problems w/running H/F in Word
Thanks for your suggestion, but I'm afraid that doesn't help.

Re: Problems w/running H/F in Word
Okey dokey. So now I have purchased Flare and I tried generating MS Word output to see if it was any different. Sadly, the running header/footer is still the same as before. I just don't understand what I've done wrong. It sounds like others have had success.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Abby

Re: Problems w/running H/F in Word
Thanks! I wondered if the demo might be the problem, but figured it might not be because the H/F worked in Frame.

Re: Problems w/running H/F in Word
I'm running the demo version of 3.1.0 (I'm waiting for the OK here to get the licensed version). The page link that Lisa provided didn't help, unfortunately. I'd read over that thread several times before I posted yesterday and that's what led me to believe that some have gotten this to work. I'm ...

I've been looking through the archives and Flare help and I'm still stumped by using running header/footer variables in Word.

Available styles list doesn't show all from stylesheet
I'm 10 days into learning Flare and I am stumped by something with my stylesheet. When I'm working on a topic (and my stylesheet is associated with that topic), I find that only a handful of the styles from the stylesheet are available. Why is this? In particular, this is a problem while I'm ...
