Thanks for that suggestion. At least that resolves the problem for now.
For what it is worth, it's seems to be a Flare to PDF output issue. We tried sending the output to FrameMaker and the headings were fine.

Re: Prob. w/ conditional text in heading
Um, I don't think so. I didn't know that we could specify a different style for a specific condition tag. Our targets specify the condition tags to include or exclude, and they also specify whether to use "print" or "non-print," but I wasn't aware of any combination for a condition tag to use a ...

Prob. w/ conditional text in heading
We've got some headings that need to use conditional text. In the WebHelp output, the headings look fine (all text in WebHelp output is sans-serif font). In the PDF output, however, the conditional text appears as a serif font when it should be sans-serif (all non-heading text in PDF output is serif ...

TOC book doesn't go to 1st topic on linked TOC entry
I have a WebHelp TOC that includes links to two of our other Flare projects. When I generate Help, the "books" for the linked topics are there, as expected. When I click on the book in the Help TOC panel, though, I expect the the first topic from the linked project to show in the topic panel, but it ...

Re: Linked subproject not appearing in PDF output
It's taken me a while to get back to this, but these are three separate Flare projects. Project A is the master project with the bulk of the content. Projects B and C are independent projects with content that is linked to project A only through the TOC.

Re: Flare 5 Performance Seems Slow
FWIW, disabling Show Condition Indicators helps a lot. Typing is almost at normal speed in files that have conditions applied. I have Show Inline Markers enabled, so I can still see what is tagged as conditional text. It just doesn't highlight the text. Re-installing .NET Framework didn't help. I ...

Re: Linked subproject not appearing in PDF output
Bummer. I have my targets set up as PDF, so I guess merging subprojects is for Help output only and not for print. It would certainly be nice if we could merge subprojects in Help AND print. Now I need to cobble together print output so that I have one book instead of two.

Linked subproject not appearing in PDF output
Is it possible to have a linked subproject included in a PDF? For my WebHelp output, the subprojects linked to my main project work swell. When I try this in my print TOC and targets, the subprojects don't appear. I also see the build error message "Skipping sub-entries: The current target type does ...

Create custom html page for "File Not Found"?
I'd like to create a custom html page that appears if the user clicks on a broken link (rather than getting a generic "File Not Found" error from the browser). Is that possible? If so, how do I do that?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Possible to create modular help "plug-ins" with WebHelp?
Sharon,
I tried this with our main project and one of the "plug-in" modules, and it works fabulously! You are right; if the subproject output is removed from the \Subsystems directory, then the topics from that subproject don't appear in the TOC, the index, or in search. We'll have the plug-in ...

Re: Flare 5 Performance Seems Slow
I have turned off phrase collection and cannot see any difference. We do work off of a networked drive, but that was not problem when we had 4.2. The difference in response time with v5 is frustratingly noticeable. In some cases, it seems as though Flare is locked up, perhaps in endless internal ...

Flare 5 Performance Seems Slow
We installed V5 this week and are noticing the performance is much slower in V5 than it was in V4.2. Is anyone else experiencing this, and does anyone know why this is happening? I recently got a new machine, so performance with V4.2 was quite zippy. Now I have to wait a few seconds for Flare to ...

Re: Possible to create modular help "plug-ins" with WebHelp?
Hi Sharon,
I am interested in your solution, and I have some questions regarding the modules you create (we don't include 3rd party help...yet).
Do you have your modules set up as different Flare projects?
If we generate a main help system that includes TOC links to other projects (the modules ...

Re: Possible to create modular help "plug-ins" with WebHelp?
Yes, it is browser based. What sort of custom tools are out there that can generate the toc/index at install? Our software will be using Eclipse in the next year or so, and I know that what you are saying is possible in Eclipse, but I wonder what other options there are? Also, what search indexers ...

Possible to create modular help "plug-ins" with WebHelp?
We have software modules that can be added on to our base product, which require a license in order to use them. Currently, we provide help for all products, regardless of whether the user has a license for everything or not. I am exploring whether it is possible to have WebHelp output that is set ...

Re: Use one set of output files for multiple Help variations?
Thanks for your responses! It sounds like some variation the second option is the way we'll need to go. Unfortunately, installing our product doesn't require a license (licensing is done after install), so we won't have a way to know which help version to install.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Use one set of output files for multiple Help variations?
We've been generating WebHelp output for the past year, and now that we're going to have variations of our product I wonder if we need to change what type of help output we generate, or maybe how we have our project set up for WebHelp.
In the near future, we will need to generate help for three ...

I tested disabling Mark-of-the-Web, and there is something else causing my problem on besides MOTW. I disabled it for the master project and the sub-project and generated WebHelp. Re: External links not always working
I'm curious: how are others handling this for Vista? We enabled MOTW so our users who have Vista don't have to click to allow blocked content every time they open our Help. Do we have to choose between whether we want our users to have links to external topics, or whether we want our Vista users to ...

Even though the links are to HTML docs, MOTW is interfering? I thought it was a problem only if the links went to non-HTML documents.

When I open our PDF output in Adobe, the bookmarks frame shows the bookmarks I would expect from our chapters, but it also includes a "Bookmarks" entry (see image below), which includes random things I don't expect it to. We're producing WebHelp output in v4.2.1, and our external links to topics that are ours do not always work. WebHelp is generated from two projects located at the same level, under a folder named Flare_Projects:
