Re: Background image in page layout doesn't appear
In our case, the image was supposed to be at the top 3rd of the page with part of the chapter name overlaying it. I finally used a workaround by putting the image in the Header frame. I made the height of the Body frame shorter, made the Header frame longer and inserted the image into it. I gave up ...

Using built-in numbered list vs. created class
When I started using Flare with 3.1, I needed to create styles called p.Numbered1 and p.Numbered to make sure that numbered lists worked properly in FrameMaker output. It used to be that the numbers did not start as 1 when they needed to, so I had to create styles to force the numbering. I remember ...

Re: How do I left-justify TOC/Index page numbers?
Yes, that was what I meant. I tried setting block to "none" on the miniTOC1 style and when I generate the PDF, the mini TOC doesn't appear at all. I'll just stick with what I've got.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Setting the Body hyphenation to Never seems to do the trick.

Re: How can I stop glossary terms from appearing as footnotes?
Actually, just selecting the Do not convert the terms option does the trick. I don't know what happened, because I hadn't been previously getting glossary terms as footnotes. I did upgrade from 3.1 to 4.2 a month ago, so I don't know if that affected anything.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: How do I left-justify TOC/Index page numbers?
After playing with it a little more, it doesn't appear that I can do what I want to. The generated lists look like they are put into a table and the page number goes into the second column. As far as I can tell, all I can do is adjust the width of the second column and whether or not the number is ...

Hyphenation occuring in lists even when hyphenation off
I'm getting hypenated text in bulleted lists in my print output. I thought that the bulleted list would get it's properties from the <p> style, since you can't do anything about hyphenation for the <li> syle. My <p> hyphenation is set to Never. Is there another place I need to turn hyphenation off ...

Re: How can I stop glossary terms from appearing as footnotes?
They are all set to popups, so I thought changing the setting in the target would do the trick.

How can I stop glossary terms from appearing as footnotes?
In my Frame and PDF TOCs I have a glossary topic with the glossary proxy. Both generate output with the glossary, but also now generate the glossary terms as footnotes on the pages that have words marked as glossary terms. This did not happen when I was using v 3.1 (now on v 4.2) I do not want ...

Background image doesn't appear when generating w/madbuild
I have a background image (.gif) that is set up in my page layout Page Properties that is supposed to appear on the first page of each chapter. My print output targets are FrameMaker and PDF. I'm finding inconsistencies when I generate output for these targets, such as:

Re: Background image in page layout doesn't appear
I take back some of what I said yesterday about it working.
I've discovered that if I generate the PDF output from within Flare, the background image appears. Unfortunately, if I generate the PDF build using madbuild in a batch program (which is how I'm typically trying to create our output), the ...

Never mind...I tried adding the image to the Page Properties, then made my "First" page's body frame shorter. The background image shows up in the PDF.

Re: Background image in page layout doesn't appear
I added the image through Frame Properties, not Page Properties, if that makes any difference. I want the image to only appear in the top half of the frame. The Page Properties are set to the factory defaults. I have not tried reversing the property settings. Maybe the Page Properties override the ...

Re: Any way to control hyphenation in PDF output?
What is hyphenating is the body section, not headers and footers. I looked a bit in the .css to see where I specify hyphenation off, but nothing looked obvious for a hyphenation control. What style property should I look for?
I still think it's odd that my Frame output doesn't hyphenate, but my PDF ...

Re: How to Auto-Merge Alias Files?
Sorry for being so dense about this, but I still need more specific information. I'm very familiar with how to do things in v3.1, but have had v4.2 only a couple of weeks. If it helps, here's my setup:
The project consists of the help topics and all of the usual files you have for a single project ...

Any way to control hyphenation in PDF output?
I'm noticing that when I generate output to Frame I don't have any hyphenation (which is good) but when I generate PDF output with the PDF target, I get hyphenation (which is bad). Why is this, and how can I control it? Both outputs are using the same TOC and the same medium.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Background image in page layout doesn't appear
Yup, I specified chapter breaks and to start the new chapter with page First in the TOC. I don't have any background colors or images specified in body or html tags. Does the image need to be saved in a particular format? It's a .gif right now.

Re: How to Auto-Merge Alias Files?
I'm afraid I don't understand. Is this something the developers need to change on their side? I don't get if I'm supposed to combine the IDs into one file on my side (in Flare) so that output always generates with main projects/sub-project IDs, or is it that the developers change their help calls to ...

Header/Footer variables not working in PDF output
I've got my page layouts set with variable headers/footers. The headers work fine in FrameMaker output, but in PDF output (from the PDF target) the H/F appear as the variables (e.g., <$paratext[h1]>). Has anyone else encountered this?

Is there a way to control PDF output doc properties?
I like the PDF target in Flare and it seems to work reasonably well. I'm still working through a few issues. I'm wondering if there is a way to control the PDF properties before the doc is generated? What I'd like is to be able to hard code the initial view and doc description properties so that I ...
