I want to shrink all of my images for print output while leaving them full-size for WebHelp output.

To add a swf, use Flare's tools for adding images. (Yeah, I know it's a video, not an image--I found that a little confusing at first too....)

My images (pngs) contain transparencies.

When compiling the PDF, Flare seems to be translating that transparency into WHITE.

When images appear against a light yellow background, for example, they have a white square around them.

Yes, that's what I want to do. The only problem is that I want to set width to "50% but with a maximum width of the image's original pixels". I'm not sure how to pull that off.

I am using PNGs and the latest Firefox on both Windows and Mac.

Thanks for the warnings about PNG transparencies. We DO have some old-school clients, so that might be an issue down the road. I'll have to be careful how much I *depend* on transparencies.

Yeah, agreed, I will probably just ditch those files. Once I make sure they aren't important somehow (as when accessing the folder over a cross-platform network or something).

The problem is I will be creating, importing and re-importing thousands of images every year.

Clarification:
I can rescale either in the code or in Flare's editor (by clicking and dragging on the corner of an image) and the transparency works fine.

Once I COMPILE the WebHelp, however, the transparency is lost.

Attempting to open this bizarre ._ file actually crashes the Content Explorer.

I'm starting to think this has something to do with the Parallels program, which acts as an intemediary between the file systems. So this probably isn't a Flare question... unless someone who is using Flare through ...

I have a bunch of images (png) with transparent parts.

These display fine in Flare... the background color comes through, for example.

However, when I click and drag to make an image smaller, and then recompile, the image loses it's transparency in the WebHelp output.

This seems like a bug to me ...

If you have a project that contains several sub TOCs, you might create a book in your TOC and then use the Properties window to link it to a your other TOC.

When I move images into the Resources/Images folder, they are copied in with both the file AND a "._filename.png" item.

I'm working on a Macintosh and dragging the images to the Windows partition. Maybe that has something to do with it.

1. I set page-break-inside to avoid for a div, and I use that div on every step in a procedure. (I use a custom, auto-numbering scheme, not <li>). This does not work, my steps are still split up between pages when I generate a PDF in ...

As expected, I found one solution for PDF that breaks WebHelp:

Find and replace all "http://path/to/images" with "\\network\path\to\images"

This produces ERRORS when I compile, "Link points outside project...", but actually seems to grab the images and put them into the PDF pretty well.
