I want to shrink all of my images for print output while leaving them full-size for WebHelp output.
I've tried setting the width and height in the stylesheet of my "mediaobject" <div> that I use to contains all my images. But when I set those attributes to a percentage (or a pixel amount), it just ...

Re: Images extending off the bottom of the page in PDF
This issue was critical enough to my project that I spent today working on it.
I updated to 4.1. That did not solve the problem.
I also went through each example in my document and each attribute of each style that was applied to each element.
What I've learned, and the solution:

Hiya,
Conceptually: no problem! That would work great, and Flare's support for CSS (including some clever built-in customizations) will let you do most anything I can think you might want to do.
In practice: Flare's PDF generating is a brand new feature, debuted in V4 of Flare. Prior to this, you ...

(SOLVED) Images extending off the bottom of the page in PDF
Flare's PDF generator doesn't seem to pay attention to how long images are.
If an image would extend off the bottom of the page, I would expect the PDF engine to wrap that image to the next page. It does not do this. Instead, the image extends off the bottom of the page (wiping out the page number ...

Re: Link to Video
To add a swf, use Flare's tools for adding images. (Yeah, I know it's a video, not an image--I found that a little confusing at first too....)
For the rest, what I would do is create a skin that has the dimensions and other characteristics that you want. Then create a topic that includes the swf ...

My images (pngs) contain transparencies.

Good find!
Yes, that's what I want to do. The only problem is that I want to set width to "50% but with a maximum width of the image's original pixels". I'm not sure how to pull that off.

I am using PNGs and the latest Firefox on both Windows and Mac.
Thanks for the warnings about PNG transparencies. We DO have some old-school clients, so that might be an issue down the road. I'll have to be careful how much I *depend* on transparencies.

Yeah, agreed, I will probably just ditch those files. Once I make sure they aren't important somehow (as when accessing the folder over a cross-platform network or something).
The problem is I will be creating, importing and re-importing thousands of images every year.

Clarification:
I can rescale either in the code or in Flare's editor (by clicking and dragging on the corner of an image) and the transparency works fine.
Once I COMPILE the WebHelp, however, the transparency is lost.

Images Losing Transparency when Flare Resizes them?
I have a bunch of images (png) with transparent parts.
These display fine in Flare... the background color comes through, for example.
However, when I click and drag to make an image smaller, and then recompile, the image loses it's transparency in the WebHelp output.
This seems like a bug to me ...

I'm working on a Macintosh and dragging the images to the Windows partition. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Can I use absolute paths for images in the Flare project and still keep my project mobile? Is there some absolute path for the Project that doesn't include the file system? Are there Find and Replace tools that will let me work on the XML code for a bunch of topics all at once?

As expected, I found one solution for PDF that breaks WebHelp:

This produces ERRORS when I compile, "Link points outside project...", but actually seems to grab the images and put them into the PDF pretty well.
